2 Page 2 Sunday, October April 19, 4, 2015 Dear Friends in Christ, Respect Life Sunday This Sunday around the United States we commemorate Respect Life Sunday. Every day we need to live out the gospel value of respect for life. However, it s important every now and then to give that principle extra focus because it is such an integral part of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Human life at every stage of life is sacred, but the most vulnerable are the unborn. Page 3 We are created in the image and likeness of God and that sacred dignity adheres from the earliest stage in the womb all the way until the end of life. The small white crosses at the Crane Road Church and the Downtown Church help us realize why we need to lift the banner of respect for the sacredness of human life. Each cross represents some of the 40 million unborn children who died because of abortion since legalization in Not only has life been lost, but so many women and men carry wounds and know the heartache that abortion causes. Because of what we believe about the gift of life which comes from God, the Church will always need to stand opposed to abortion. The Church will continue to be a voice for the sacredness of unborn life and also stands ready to help women and men find healing, forgiveness and reconciliation. There is no sin bigger than God s mercy and forgiveness and that forgiveness is always held out to those who are contrite and desire reconciliation. We need to continue to prayerfully strive to change minds and hearts about the humanity of the unborn. Leaders of Planned Parenthood were recently recorded discussing the sale of body parts from aborted fetuses. The videos were chilling because these leaders spoke in such a nonchalant manner about the product they sought to distribute. Sadly, many people in our country believe that an unborn child is not fully human and therefore has no rights. Advances in ultrasound technology have helped our cause because those images of the unborn show that from very early stages you have a human being present. As a church we need to stand ready to help women who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy. Some women get so overwhelmed that they feel that abortion is their only option. I was recently at an event sponsored by the Fox Valley Pregnancy Center along with many other St. Patrick parishioners. The Center helps women in crisis pregnancies and provides the support to help them move forward. If we stand opposed to abortion we need to stand with women who are contemplating abortion and help them choose life. The Church also has an excellent ministry called Project Rachel. It is a ministry that provides healing and reconciliation for those struggling from post abortion aftermath. If you or someone you know is struggling because of a past abortion, please know that I am available to help. This Sunday from 2:30 to 3:30 pm the National Life Chain will be taking place along Main St. in Downtown St. Charles. The Life Chain is a public display and non-confrontational hour of prayer to end abortion in our community and our nation. Last year we had over 100 parishioners participating. I would encourage your participation in this event which allows us to prayerfully stand up for life and be in solidarity with so many others around our country. If you can participate, we ll gather at 2:15 p.m. at the Downtown Church and then make our way over to Main Street. In Christ, Msgr. Steve Let s continue to pray for a greater respect for human life in our country. This Sunday, October 4th from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. St. Patrick s will again participate in the National Life-Chain along Main Street in St. Charles. We will gather at 2:15 pm at the Downtown Church or the Thompson Middle School Parking Lot. Non-graphical signs will be provided. The Life-Chain is a public display and non-confrontational hour of prayer to end abortion in our community and our nation. All are welcome. If you have any questions, please contact Jon Mielke at or kccgrfan@sbcglobal.net

Stories of Don Bosco This lively 50-minute presentation of the life of St. John Bosco, the Italianborn patron saint of youth is perfect for the whole family! Written and performed by Tom and Geralyn Sparough. Celebrate St. John Bosco s 200th birthday in This lively presentation is filled with humor, juggling, prayer, and stories of this remarkable saint, who was a juggler, acrobat, teacher, and father to thousands of abandoned children. Don Bosco s stories help inspire everyone to overcome adversity, to grow in love of the Catholic faith, and to get to know a saint who has promised to pray for them. Today, 200 years after his birth, Don Bosco s followers are in 129 countries and are recognized as the third largest missionary organization in the world. Actually, they do! In this packed presentation filled with humor and easy-to-apply practical examples, Dr. Gregory & Lisa Popcak and Dr. Ray Guarendi help you discover your own God-given instruction manual for creating an effective & life-changing parenting plan for your children. Parishioner Comments Dr. Ray's keen insights and methods will transform your parenting skills. His truth is refreshing! ~ Christina (Mom of 7) - Neenah, WI Encouraging and funny - just what parents need to help us shape and mold our children the way God intended! ~ Jenene (Mom of 4) - Lutz, FL A Voice for the Unborn Lila Rose is the president of Live Action, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending abortion and building a culture of life through new media. Although she is only in her early 20s, she is a regular guest on The O'Reilly Factor, Hannity, and several other TV programs. In this talk, Lila describes her daring undercover investigations into America's most notorious abortion facilities, shedding light on the greatest human rights abuses of our time. Parishioner Comment: The talk was amazing. She helped reach out to young people especially where they are in life and how they are called to build a culture of life. I met Lila 5 years ago when she was a guest speaker at a dinner for the Pro-Life Union in my area. And I admired her for her courageous stand for the sanctity of life. ~ Mickey - Philadelphia, PA
