Save the Date: The Incarnation Men s Association annual Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday, AUGUST 9TH at the Wethersfield Country Club. We are still looking for people to work at various tasks such as measuring closest to the pin s on par 3 s, a raffle and monitoring play. The Incarnation Scholarship Awards for this year have been awarded to Mary McKenna and Thomas Saunders. Mary will attend Mercy High School and Thomas will attend Xavier High School! Congratulations to both of you! Faith Formation: Parents are reminded to register new students at anytime before August 1st. All assignments for our Faith Formation communities are done through the Faith Formation Office only. Adult Confirmation Classes for Baptized Roman Catholics who have made their First Communion and are over the age of 18 to be held in two locations this fall. When He saw the people gathered, however, He put His needs aside to meet the needs of others. Sometimes, as good stewards, we are called to do the same. On Saturday and Sunday, August 1st and 2nd, a Carmelite Priest, Father Aristarco Escobal, will be speaking at all of our Masses on behalf of the Carmelite Missions. Your generous response to this appeal will help support the work of Carmelite missionaries in the Philippines, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, India, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Trinidad, Vietnam, and South America in their service to the people of God. Cost is $5.00 p.p. or $10.00 per family. This includes food & beverages, pony rides from 1:30-3:30pm, moon bounce and a new raffle this year. Seating will be available both inside and outside. Tickets will be on sale on the day of the event at the door only. Join us! Volunteers are needed for a few hours to set and clean up. Please call Audrey at the rectory at Corpus Christi Women s Club is sponsoring five bus trips this year. These trips are not fundraisers, but are meant to build community amongst parishes. Several Incarnation parishioners have attended these trips in the past. The next trip will be on August 14th for The CT River & French King Gorge Experience. Registration deadline is July 31st. See pink flyers at the Narthex entrance. September 30th trip will be Wine & Dine in Hudson Valley, NY and the final trip will be; Shop till You Drop in Kittery Maine on November 14th. The Incarnation Faith Sharing (Small Christian Communities) Group that meets monthly in the homes of parishioners recently got together. Pictured here are some of the members. This community has been meeting for many years. The Gospel readings are taken from the past weekend and discussed. The group then shares with each other how the Gospel readings can help all of us in our daily lives. Are you or is someone you know ready to explore the Bible? Registrations for the fifteenth anniversary class of the Archdiocesan Catholic Biblical School will be considered through August 15th. Classes will be held at various locations around the diocese and both in the evening and during the Day. Coming to know God s Word in the Bible will have a profound impact on your life and faith, at least, that s what participants have been telling us for years, and what last October s Vacation Synod on the Word of God confirmed. 6 Page Six 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time. July 19, 2009 Are you being called to the Priesthood or Religious? REST IN THE LORD For several weeks we have listened to readings that have recounted just how arduous the work of prophets and disciples can be. In today s Gospel, the Lord Jesus listens to the reports of those he had sent out two by two to minister to the people. After the apostles reported what they had done, Jesus, recognizing their fatigue, says, Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile (Mark 6:31). Perhaps this is what the Lord is telling his disciples in the year 2009 as well. We need to pause on our journey of discipleship and simply rest in the Lord. Sunday Mass provides many opportunities for quiet times, particularly during the periods of silence following the readings. Why not take the time today to allow the saving word of the Lord to penetrate your heart during those silent times? Ask the Lord to renew you in body, mind, and spirit for the arduous work of discipleship. TODAY S READINGS First Reading I shall gather the remnant of my flock and bring them back to their meadow (Jeremiah 23:1-6). Psalm The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want (Psalm 23). Second Reading In Christ Jesus you who were once far off have become near by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13-18). Gospel When Jesus saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, and he began to teach them many things (Mark 6:30-34).
