On Oct. 22, Bishop Thomas will be installed as the Eighth Bishop of the Diocese of Toledo, which is home to over 320,000 Catholics from 19 counties in northwestern Ohio. You are invited to an archdiocesan Farewell Event for Bishop Thomas on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 5:30 p. m. in the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul. Archbishop Chaput will lead Evening Prayer. Music Ministry Information Registration for the Epiphany parish Children s Choir (grades 2-8) will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m. in church. A rehearsal and Mass schedule will be distributed at registration! We look forward to welcoming new members who enjoy singing or who are interested in learning to play the handbells! Religious Education Program (REP) Aides Needed REP needs 5 aides for grades 3, 4 & 5 to assist the teachers in the classrooms on Monday evenings from 6-8 p.m. from September to May. If you are a high school student looking to do community service hours, please consider volunteering your time in the Religious Education Program. Duties include: taking attendance, assisting with the arrival and dismissal of the children, assisting the teacher in the classroom as needed and monitoring the children who use the bathroom, get a drink or leave early. Donations can be earmarked for scholarships for Holy Rosary Regional Catholic School students. BLOCS is an independent charitable organization supported by companies, foundations, and individuals in the five-county Philadelphia region. BLOCS awards thousands of scholarships to students each year. Holy Rosary students received more than $23,000 in BLOCS scholarship money during the school year. BLOCS uses the OSTC donations to provide tuition assistance to eligible students residing in the boundaries of a low-achieving public school to attend Catholic school. 4 Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office of the Archbishop 222 North 17th Street Philadelphia, PA August 20, 2014 Dear Monsignor/Father, I am happy to share the news of the release of the official preparatory catechesis of the World Meeting of Families Philadelphia 2015 by Our Sunday Visitor Publishing Company. The talks and activities that will fill the World Meeting center around the ten themes that comprise the Church teaching provided in Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive. The catechesis is available in English and Spanish, and both languages are available in hard copy and E-Book for Kindle and tablets. The World Meeting of Families also has educational tools available to support the catechesis. These resources as well as the opportunity to order the catechesis are available on the World Meeting of Families website at WorldMeeting2015.org under Catechesis. Attached you will find a PDF of the catechesis, lesson plans for high school elementary school students developed by the Dominicans Sisters of Nashville, and the catechesis order form. I encourage you to consider adopting these resources for your parish, and share these opportunities with parishioners. The PDF of the catechesis is text only and you will receive one of the hard copy books in the mail. The catechesis is a valuable tool for all Catholics, not only in preparation for the World Meeting of Families next September, but also in providing Church teaching on family and marriage. Baptism Baptisms are celebrated after the 11:30 a.m. Mass every Sunday, with the option of baptism during the 11:30 a.m. Mass on the fifth Sunday of the month. Both first-time parents must attend a Pre-Jordan class, which is held the first Wednesday of every month. Pre-Registration for the class is required by contacting the rectory. Sponsors not from Epiphany are required to submit a Certificate of Eligibility from their parish two weeks prior to the baptism. Marriage Notify the priest of your intention to marry at least six months before the date of the wedding to assure sufficient preparation and to arrange for Pre-Cana sessions.
