Also, please advise our office staff of any change of address, telephone number or family status. Anointing of the Sick First Saturday of the month after Mass or by request. Please notify the Parish Office as soon as possible when any parishioner becomes seriously ill or is admitted to the hospital. Baptism Baptisms are celebrated after the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays upon request. Both first-time parents need to attend a Pre-Jordan class, which is held the first Wednesday of every month. Pre-Registration for the class is required by contacting the Parish Office. Sponsors not from Epiphany are required to submit a Certificate of Eligibility from their parish two weeks prior to the Baptism. Matrimony Notify the Parish Office of your intention to marry at least six months before the date of the wedding to assure sufficient preparation and to arrange for Pre-Cana sessions. Miraculous Medal Perpetual Novena After Mass every Saturday. Holy Communion for the Sick and Homebound Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are available to bring Communion to the sick and homebound. Catholic Relief Services The second collection this weekend supports Catholic Relief Services (CRS). Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Lecture The Archdiocese of Philadelphia s Office for Black Catholics is sponsoring a lecture on Monday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph s University. The guest speaker is Bishop Edward K. Braxton from the Diocese of Belleville, Illinois. Contact the Office for Black Catholics at (215) Day of Prayer for Legal Protection of Unborn Children The General Instruction of the Roman Missal sets aside Jan. 22 each year to be observed as a particular day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion (373). God, author of all life, bless, we pray, unborn children; give constant protection and grant a healthy birth that is the sign of our rebirth one day into the eternal rejoicing of heaven. Amen. Based on the Prayer of Blessing World Youth Day Gathering As our Holy Father gathers with youth from around the world for World Youth Day, Tuesday, Jan. 22, held this year in Panama, let us pray for the youth of the Church. Montgomery County Life Rally The Stand Up for Life Rally will take place Sunday, Jan. 27, at 2:00 p.m. in our church followed by refreshments in the vestibule. All are invited to attend, renew their pro-life commitment, and hear messages from local young adult leaders in the pro-life movement. World Day for Consecrated Life In 1997, Pope St. John Paul II instituted a day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This year, World Day for Consecrated Life is Saturday, Feb. 2. Please pray for those who have devoted themselves to Christ and His Church. National Marriage Week The week of Feb is set aside to recognize the importance of marriage in society and to encourage those couples who are struggling to seek assistance. Retrouvaille is a program that offers a welcoming and loving space to married couples who are hurting and is run by volunteer couples who have gone through the program themselves. 4 A Reflection on the Family By Father Quindlen Dec. 30, 2018 On this Feast of the Holy Family, we reflect on the gift and mystery of the Holy Family of Nazareth, with Jesus, Mary and Joseph as our inspiration and our role models. Gift and Mystery is the title of the book published by Pope St. John Paul II on the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. I ve selected six words to share with you that apply to family life as I discern it. Each word begins respectively with the letters f, a, m, i, l, y. Perhaps you can select six other words beginning with these same successive letters that apply to family life as you are living it. FAITH Faith is a gift from God by which we respond to His revealing Himself to us, first nourished and nurtured through our families of origin. ALL-INCLUSIVE All-inclusive means that no one is excluded, and everyone is included in our immediate family, extended family, blended family, parish family, the family of faith we call the Church, the family of believers including Christians, Muslims and Jews, and, the family of humankind created in God s image and likeness. MEMBERS Members fulfill their roles as spouses and parents. They are husbands and wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. INGREDIENTS Indispensable ingredients for our family s growth and development are the seven gifts and the 12 fruits of the Holy Spirit. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude knowledge piety and fear of the Lord (Is. 11:2). The 12 fruits of the Holy Spirit are charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control and chastity (Gal. 5:22). LIVELIHOOD The family sustains itself through the livelihood of its members. As Pope Francis said at the Humanus Conference on Nov. 17, 2014, Complementarity will take many forms as each man and woman brings his or her distinctive contributions to their marriage and to the formation of their children his or her personal richness, personal charisma. YES Without Mary s yes to God, there would be no Holy Family. God awaited Mary s response. Informed by the Archangel Gabriel that God had chosen her to be the mother of His Son, Mary said, Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word (Lk. 1:38). While God wants to hear us say yes, He so loves us that he gives us free will to say no. As the late Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C. (Congregation of the Holy Cross), the renowned Rosary Priest frequently advised us, The family that prays together, stays together.

5 Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord Homily by Father Quindlen ~ Jan. 6, 2019 Our parish patronal feast day of the Epiphany of the Lord marks three mysteries of our faith. Today the star leads the Magi to the infant Christ. Today water is changed into wine for the wedding feast. And, today Christ wills to be baptized by John in the river Jordan to bring us salvation. Holy Mother Church uses the biblical metaphor of marriage to describe how these three mysteries of faith are related. Today the Bridegroom claims his bride, the Church, since Christ has washed her sins away in Jordan s waters. The Magi hasten with their gifts to the royal wedding. And, the wedding guests rejoice, for Christ has changed water into wine. While the Epiphany of the Lord concludes the 12 days of Christmas, the liturgical season of Christmas extends to next Sunday with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. The Magi were perhaps members of a priestly caste among the ancient Medes and Persians. We identify them as kings. The evangelist Matthew s Magi were astrologers. Their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh symbolized royalty, divinity, and mortality for the burial of Jesus in His human body. The journey of the wise men from the East to Bethlehem of Judea was a pilgrimage of faith. Their return home by another route signaled a conversion and change of heart. God called them to manifest His Son, Jesus, to the Gentile world. Every parish, every Christian is called to be an Epiphany a manifestation of Christ to the world. The prophet Isaiah personifies Jerusalem as a woman who radiates light as her children gather and come to her her sons come from afar, and her daughters in the arms of their nurses. According to St. Paul s letter to the Ephesians, the Spirit revealed that the Gentiles are co-heirs with the Jews, members of the same body, and co-partners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel. Today we begin our annual National Migration Week observance throughout the Catholic Church in the United States. This year s theme is Building Communities of Welcome. All Welcome reads our new digital sign, which we will bless today on the 62nd anniversary of the founding of the parish. The Roman Ritual s Book of Blessings provides a blessing for our new sign. ORDER FOR THE BLESSING OF TECHNICAL INSTALLATIONS OR EQUIPMENT The inauguration of technical installations or equipment is an opportune occasion for the celebration of a blessing, in order to make it clear that the message of the Gospel is not inimical to the building up of this world. Through the work of our hands and the help of technology we cooperate with the Creator to improve the earth...and carry out Christ s mandate to follow him in serving one another in love...in human works and the inventions of human genius we must recognize the continuing activity of God the Creator. Rightly, then, we offer praise to God with grateful hearts and call on Him with confidence. Blessed are you, Lord our God, and worthy or all praise, for you have provided for the perfecting of your creation through human labor and intelligence, and you show your own power and goodness in the inventions of the human race. Grant that all those who will use this equipment to improve their lives may recognize that you are wonderful in your works and may learn to carry out your will more readily. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Holy Rosary Review Holy Rosary is busy preparing for Catholic Schools Week which begins Sunday, January 27th.

Without your prayers and financial support, we wouldn t be able to carry on Jesus message of love. Also on the 27th, we are sponsoring an Open House from 11:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. The Open House will feature a Science and Technology Extravaganza.

Our week continues with Mass, Community Day, on which we will honor two policemen and a retiring fire marshal at an assembly. A canned goods collection. We are shooting for 2000 cans.

Also on the 27th, we are sponsoring an Open House from 11:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. The Open House will feature a Science and Technology Extravaganza. Our students will be showcasing their talents in these two disciplines. We welcome you to visit this day and see what Holy Rosary students are accomplishing. A Talent Show and an afternoon of fun physical competitions. Equally exciting is a day dedicated to vocations including talks by a physical therapist, an illustrator, an actor who does voice overs, a township manager and a fireman. We will celebrate our nation with a Living History Museum of Presidents and a Wax Museum of Famous Pennsylvanians. Finally, staff, volunteers and teachers will be celebrated. Toys were collected for 55 K-4 students and 23 Target Gift cards for 5-8 students in Project H.O.M.E.'s After School Program. Also collected were 36 Target gift cards for Project H.O.M.E. Shelters.
