2 From the Pastor Congratulations, First Communicants! April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, first declared in 1983 by presidential proclamation. It s a painful but also a graced moment, Archbishop Chaput wrote in his weekly column published Apr. 21 in Our Sunday Visitor newspaper. We need to pause and remember the survivors of abuse in our actions and in our prayers no matter where, or at the hands of whom and what institution, the abuse occurred. Don t let sexual violence silence you, reads the victim assistance poster campaign, sponsored by our archdiocesan Office for Child and Youth Protection. Healing can start with a call, the poster emphasizes. Dial , visit or consult your parish bulletin. The victim assistance poster is the campaign part of our archdiocesan initiative titled, Honesty, Healing & Hope in Christ: Confronting Sexual Violence in Our Archdiocese. Sexual violence is prevalent in our society, Leslie Davila, director of our archdiocesan Victim Assistance Program, wrote in her Apr. 15 letter to priests. As a community of faith we have the obligation to reach out to all who suffer. Confronting sexual violence requires that we acknowledge its prevalence and the need for assistance in the immediate aftermath and decades later, she concluded. This continues to be a challenging issue for us as Church. 3 Serve Our Neighbor (SON) Is looking for a few good volunteers. SON will be providing some fix-up work in the area on Saturday, May 11, and would appreciate volunteers to help with some light house repair and clean-up work. No special skills required. Visit for more information. Ministry Support Archdiocese of Philadelphia When pregnancy is complicated with a prenatal diagnosis...your care and support can make a difference in the life of a family. Peer Ministry Support for PPD: The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is developing a ministry which will offer support to couples experiencing a poor prenatal diagnosis (PPD) and carrying to term. Peer ministers and volunteers are invited to come and be a part of this important ministry. Have you carried to term following a prenatal diagnosis? Or have you experienced the loss of a child by miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death? Consider becoming a peer minister. The training workshop will be June 29. 4 Plymouth Meeting, PA Liturgical Music Policy for Weddings The liturgical music for weddings is provided by the professional musicians contracted by our parish for our music ministry program. Constance M. Steuer, Director of Music, will provide piano accompaniment for weddings. Ms. Steuer will also provide brides with a list of professional vocalists and instrumentalists approved by our parish. Since fees for their services are established separately, the bride needs to discuss fees with respective musicians individually. Ms. Steuer likewise provides a complimentary wedding music seminar each year to offer brides the opportunity to hear the approved musicians. This seminar also offers brides (and grooms) the opportunity to listen to liturgical music selections that are both appropriate and available for weddings. The music for all weddings is to be selected from the repertoire approved by our parish. Ms. Steuer is also available to meet individually with brides. Brides and grooms should contact Ms. Steuer as soon as their wedding date is confirmed by our parish to choose liturgical music selections for their wedding. Family and friends responsible for the funeral arrangements should contact Ms. Steuer as soon as possible to choose from the approved parish repertoire the liturgical music selections for the funeral. Upon approval for a guest pianist, Ms. Steuer will be paid a bench-fee of $ Upon approval, guest vocalists may sing one or two hymns. Baptism Baptisms are celebrated after the 11:30 a.m. Mass every Sunday, with the option of baptism during the 11:30 a.m. Mass on the fifth Sunday of the month. Both parents must attend a Pre-Jordan class, which is held the first Wednesday of every month. Pre-Registration for the class is required by contacting the rectory. Sponsors are required to submit a Certificate of Eligibility from their parish two weeks prior to the baptism. Marriage Notify the priest of your intention to marry at least six months before the date of the wedding to assure sufficient preparation and to arrange for Pre -Cana sessions. Pre-Cana Days are held in April and October. ANOINTING OF THE SICK First Saturday of the month during 8:30 a.m. Mass or by special request. Please notify the rectory as soon as possible when any parishioner becomes seriously ill or is admitted to the hospital.
