3 Solemnity of the Assumption August 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and is a Holy Day of Obligation! The Church askes all Catholics to come together in worship at Mass on Holy Days, to thank God and ask for His help, and to "Do this in memory of me." (Luke 22:19) Show your love for Mother Mary by asking her intercession this day! The Mass schedule for the Holy Day is: Mon., Aug. 14-7:00 PM (Solemn Mass) Tue., Aug. 15-8:00 AM (E.F.) 12:15pm, KOC Assumption Celebration! The Knights of Columbus annual Rosary Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on Monday August the 14 th at the Sacred Heart Villa in Sunshine Park, 36 Villa Drive. Steubenville, Ohio. It will begin at 7:30pm, rain or shine. Father Liam Dunne of Ireland & Father John McCoy, will be the celebrants. Franciscan University Fatima Indulgence Site Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence those who visit a statue of Our Lady of Fatima exposed for public veneration. Visit on the 13th of each month until Oct.13, 2017, to receive the indulgence, under the normal conditions. The statue is in the narthex of the University Chapel. Assumption Fest Tuesday, August 15th Malara Hall, Holy Family Church Lunch (11:30 am to 1 pm) and Dinner (5 pm to 7:30 pm) The St. John Neumann Council #11828 is announcing our second annual Assumption Fest event. A Rosary procession with our Blessed Mother will follow morning Mass. Featuring a family Square dance with caller Bob Tomlinson from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm followed by a Couples and Friends dance with DJ music. Menu includes cabbage rolls, pulled pork and grilled chicken sandwiches with several side choices. Eat in or take out. Call to order. Children 8+ Welcome! Rehearsal 4-4:50pm Mondays starting September 11th in the Choir Loft. The children s choir will sing one song at three 10am Masses, in Oct., Nov., and Dec., and is free. Auditions ~ Canticle Singers Catholic Youth Choir All youth (9-18) are invited to audition for the Canticle Singers Catholic Youth Choir! Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 5th, 4:30-6:30pm. More information at Author to Speak at St. Peter Fr. Sean Davidson, author of Saint Mary Magdalene: Prophetess of Eucharistic Love recently published by Ignatius Press, will be visiting our parish! He will preach at the weekend Masses on August 19 th and 20 th. At 7:00 pm on Monday, August 21 st, he will present a talk in the church. Father Davidson is a member of the Missionaries of the Most Holy Eucharist and serves at the Eucharistic Retreat Center in the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Long Island. REMINDERS August 13 - Parish Picnic TODAY August 20 - Donut Sunday 2017 D/PSC Update Thanks to all of you who have already pledged to the 2017 Diocesan/Parish Share Campaign. As of July 31st 138 families have pledged $55, This amount puts our parish over our goal of $51, by $4, This amount and all future pledges will be returned to St Peter Parish. May God reward your generosity to our diocese and parish. Online Giving to the D/PSC After you have submitted your pledge to the D/PSC, you may schedule and make payments online securely. Go to diosteub.org/give online to make these arrangements! Remember that you must submit your pledge to the parish before you will be able to make payments online. Blue Mass ~ Sunday, September 10th ~ ~ St. Peter Catholic Church 10:00am ~ Honoring Police, Fire Fighters, EMS, and their families. Come pray for God s blessing upon those who serve their communities, to acknowledge those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Any personnel may come in uniform, please arrive by 9:45. There will be a group picture with Bishop Monforton afterwards, as well as a reception in the basement, and a blessing of safety vehicles.
