All are invited to come on our second annual parish Creation Walk. Meet outside the Storrs Hill ski lodge at the bottom of Water Street and enjoy fellowship and lunch. We will head out on the trail around 12:30pm and enjoy the fall colors and the brook as we pray and reflect on our relationship with God's creation. All ages/abilities welcome - bring a water bottle. Specia Candle Availabl Durin th Mont of Octobe October is the month of the Rosary. During the month we will have a special votive candle holder in the shape of an anchor placed before our Blessed Mother. The candle holder consists of 10 candles. Prayer through Mary will anchor us in Jesus Christ. The Anchor is the traditional symbol of hope. If you would like to have the anchor lit in honor of a loved one for a day (except Fridays) during the month, please contact the office at The suggested donation is $10.

4 The Gospel of Saint Mark Bible Study All are invited to attend the bible study following the 9:30am Mass in the Belford Room. Join us as we enjoy coffee, donuts, and fellowship as we discuss Peter s bold announcement that Jesus is the CHRIST in Mark 8:29. We are using Praying with St. Mark s Gospel by Magnificat Press. Books are available to all parishioners for purchase in the office for $10 or at the Bible study. Join the Sacred Heart Book Study! Our new book begins October 3rd: The Life of Faustina Kowalska The Authorized Biography by Sister Sophia Michalenko Meetings are twice a month on Wednesday nights from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, at which we share our thoughts, inspirations and impressions from our current book. It isn t necessary to attend every meeting and reading is the only preparation! Apple Festival Planning Team for 2019 Our goal is to make next year s festival bigger and better. In order to do so we are putting together a planning team to toss around some ideas. Come Pray the Rosary With Us! During the month of October we will be praying the rosary on Saturdays at 4:00pm. Light of the World Retreat October 12-15, 2018 Light of the World Retreat starts in THREE WEEKS! Prayerfully consider attending this parish-based retreat. Treat yourself and feed your soul. If you feel God is calling to strengthen or deepen your relationship with Him register for the retreat. The RCIA program has begun at Sacred Heart but it s not too late to jump in! We meet two Thursdays per month from 6:30-8:00pm in the Church Hall. 5 October Food Drive for Upper Valley Haven The Upper Valley Haven has requested our help in responding to the continuing demand of our neighbors who are struggling to feed their families and themselves. During the entire month of October we will be collecting the following food items requested by the Haven: peanut butter, tuna, cereal and soup, along with any other nonperishable food items Please place your donations in the bin located at the front doors of the church. Thank you. Beginning this Week! Novena for the Church The Men of St. Joseph invite all parishioners of Sacred Heart, St. Helena's, and St. Mary's to join us in praying a novena for the Church. It's difficult to know how to respond as lay Catholics to the stories of abuse coming from the Church. Praying together as a community seems a good place to start. We are praying a novena in honor of St. Charles Lwanga every day for 9 days, starting Oct. 2 and ending Oct. 10. Each day we'll offer a short prayer with a specific intention to St. Charles Lwanga and then pray a Chaplet of Divine Mercy. For all the details and prayers for the novena, go to the Men of St. Joseph page on the parish website: Fasting and other forms of penance are encouraged but left to each person's discretion. To start the novena, we invite everyone to join us at Sacred Heart on Oct. 2 at 6:30 PM to pray the Day 1 prayers together before 7:00 PM Mass. Questions?
