God uses our lips to declare that glory, inexperienced and hesitant though they may be. God uses our love to demonstrate that glory and so urges us to exercise it. God uses Jesus of Nazareth, water and the word, bread and wine, to reveal God s glory where and when God chooses. Take heed, lest the glory of God slip through our midst unnoticed. Parents will receive information on what s involved with being part of the musical such as tentative rehearsal times and expectations. Students will have a chance to experience what it s like to put together a short scene of a musical. Please plan on joining us for this informational session. Then, at 11:45 am, Mentors and Students will meet for breakfast and discussion (a required activity). Thank you to the following who have agreed to be mentors for our Level I confirmation students. The cost for snow tubing will be $20 per person. Be sure to dress warm! We will meet at Hope and return there for pick up as well ANNUAL REPORTS DUE by January 31, Each group or committee meeting at Hope Church is expected to submit an Annual Report. The report should include past accomplishments and future goals. Please your report to Jane at office@hopecherryville.org. SOUPER BOWL OF CARING will be held NEXT SUNDAY, February 7 th. During the worship service that morning, confirmation students will conduct a noisy offering immediately after the regular offering. They will pass around several soup containers and will be asking you to drop your loose coins into them as a contribution to the ELCA World Hunger Fund. The more noise we make with our coins means the more funds we are raising for a very worthy cause. So, start saving your change now and help us make it the noisiest offering ever! 3 ANNUAL VALENTINE S DINNER Bring your sweetheart to the 8 th annual Valentine's Dinner on Saturday, February 13 th. Seating reservations will be taken for every half hour beginning at 4:30pm with the last reservation at. (All seatings still available). Dinner options are prime rib, chicken Marsala, chicken Oscar or vegetable lasagna. Meals are served with potatoes, vegetables, soup, roll and dessert. Junior portions and child meals are also available. Adult tickets $12, junior portions $7, and children's meals (hot dogs and mac & cheese) $2.50. Tickets are available after each service through NEXT SUNDAY, February 7 th or by calling the church and leaving a message on the youth group mailbox, ext. 9. We will have live music throughout the evening. Reservations are required. No walk-ins will be accepted. Snow date Sunday, February 14 th. ADDRESSES - Are you an person? If so, please make sure that we have the best in order to reach you. It is especially important we have your current for announcements of an urgent nature, like last Sunday when we had to cancel worship. CENTERING ON PRAYER WITH PASTOR BRIAN continues on the first and third Mondays at 6:00pm in Hanson Hall and the first and third Wednesdays at 2:00pm in the Adult Sunday School Room (behind Kuntz Hall). All are welcome to join at any time. Questions, please speak to Pastor Brian. BIBLE STUDY - Thursday evening Bible studies have begun again beginning at 6:30pm. They are using an 8-week study guide entitled "THE LORD'S PRAYER" written by Douglas Connelly. Cost of the book will be $7.65. Everyone is welcome at any time. Please come and join the Bible study and discussion group as we continue to learn God's Word. For more information on the Bible study, please call Sharyn Kratzer at Hope to see you there. EVANGELISM COMMITTEE meets the first Thursday of every month, which is this week, Thursday, February 4 th at 6:30pm. New members and ideas for our committee are always welcome! STATISTICS Worship services and Sunday School cancelled due to snow storm last week.

4 YOUTH GROUP ANNUAL CLOTHING DRIVE! - Start cleaning out your closets of extra clothes, shoes, purses, sheets, towels, and much more. We will be collecting clothing the week of March 13 th. All clothing must be dropped off by March 18 th. More details will follow as March approaches. WOMEN OF FAITH January s meeting was cancelled due to the snowstorm. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, February 22 nd. We will making Easter cards for our homebound members with the help and guidance of Kathy Creyer. All are welcome to join us at any time. Two sponsors (and only two) are needed each week, at a cost of $15.00 per sponsor. Sponsor envelopes are next to the chart, the sponsor money and the envelope is due in the church office two weeks before the sponsorship. Thank you to Sis Livermon for making our flower chart. PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK The Congregational Council is encouraging all our members to grow in their spirituality through a regular Prayer Life. One way of doing this is by lifting up in prayer one family from our church each day of the year. 6 The Synergy Project An outreach program of Valley Youth House The Synergy Project spoke at the Ingathering assembly in early December. We learned about this unique outreach program charged with offering assistance to a nearly invisible demographic. Look for a project to benefit the Synergy Project in January; more information will be in the weekly bulletin and on the board. The following is from the brochure they left behind: The Synergy Project is A program designed to help runaway, homeless, nomadic and street youth 21 and under, currently in Allentown or Bucks County. Maybe that s you. Maybe that s someone you know. Perhaps you or someone you know needs someone to talk to. The streets can be a lonely and difficult place to live. Whether you or someone you know is sleeping in the woods, on the streets, in a car, or just couch surfing, you can be sure we re here to help. The Synergy Project can offer Survival supplies (food, clothing, hygienic products, sleeping bags, tents, tarps, etc ); peer support; information and referral services; and assistance to get you off the streets, if desired. If you allow us to assist you You can do so without giving your name and without any strings attached. If you need to talk, we can listen; if you are cold and hungry, we can provide a blanket and food; and if you need a safe place to go, we can help direct you to that safe place.
