In the first reading God promises it. In the gospel Mary anticipates it, anointing Jesus feet with costly perfume in preparation for the day of his burial. In the second reading we recall the transformation of Saul, the persecutor, into Paul, the apostle. In baptism, God s new person (you!) rises daily from the deadly mire of trespasses and sins. As you arrive in worship find a place in a pew, please use the following prayer to center your thoughts and spirit. As the prelude begins, quiet your voice and soul. With music and prayer let us move from getting to church to being the church as we worship together. Holy and loving God, as we worship you today, we long for your Spirit to both comfort and challenge us, to help us become more holy and more loving. In a world that does not understand repentance, we pray for new understanding, humility, patience, and discipline that will help us die to sin and live for Jesus. Amen. 3 FIRST HOLY COMMUNION Congratulations to our Communion Class of 2016 who are receiving their First Holy Communion today at the 10:30am worship service. The students will receive a study Bible and a corsage or boutonniere provided by the church. There will be a reception following the service in Kuntz Hall. All are welcome! BELL ANTHEM - Today s Bell Anthem is a medley of 3 familiar hymns, all of which are in our hymnal. The first hymn you will hear is Lord Jesus, Think on Me (hymn #599), then Ah, Holy Jesus (hymn #349.) The third hymn is Go to Dark Gethsemane (hymn #347.) The hymns come full circle by ending the anthem with a return to Lord Jesus, Think on Me, offering the listener a few moments for contemplation, as is suggested in the anthem s title. SERVICES IN LENT Wednesday Lenten services will be held at 11:00am and 7:00pm on Wednesday, March 16. See the bulletin board in the narthex with more information about our Wednesday services. EASTER FLOWERS the deadline to order Easter flowers will be TODAY, Sunday, March 13 th. Order forms are available on the table in the narthex and are also included in this morning s bulletin. Please remember payment is due with the order and please use a separate form for each flower purchased. YOUTH GROUP CLOTHING DRIVE begins TODAY and ends on Friday, March 18 th. Please see more information on another page of this morning s bulletin which includes items they are collecting and drop off times. CRAB PATTY SALE - If you ordered crab patties; you can pick them up TODAY, Sunday, March 13 th from 9:00am to 12:00pm in the Kuntz Hall kitchen. Thank you for your continued support!

4 EASTER CANDY SALE - The youth are selling their homemade Easter candy once again this year! Be sure to visit the youth group board to sign up for your favorite flavors so we can have a box set aside for you. Delivery dates are TODAY, March 13 th or March 20 th. There will be peanut butter, coconut, and peanut roll eggs. New this year is the option of an assorted box. This box will be a mix of all 3 types of eggs. The price for the eggs is $10.00 per box. Sign-up sheets will be available through THIS MORNING, SUNDAY, March 13 th. Don't miss out on this tasty treat! PRAYER VIGIL - Again this year, we will have a prayer vigil from 11:00pm on Good Friday until 5:00am on Easter Sunday morning. This means we need volunteers to spend an hour in the church sanctuary during these hours in prayer and reflection. A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the back of the church. ITEMS NEEDED FOR EASTER BASKETS FOR GRACEDALE Our Social Ministry Committee will once again be delivering Easter Baskets to Gracedale on Saturday, March 19 th. Items needed to fill the baskets are sample sizes of toothpaste, lotion, perfume, and body sprays. Also, needed are colored socks and anklet socks, non-skid socks, search a word books, pens, small tablets, individual packets of tissues, crackers, cookies and pretzels. Please place the items in the box in the narthex. SYMBOLIC FOOT WASHING - Twelve persons are needed to volunteer for foot washing on Maundy Thursday, March 24 th at 7:00pm. The sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the narthex. PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK The Congregational Council is encouraging all our members to grow in their spirituality through a regular Prayer Life. One way of doing this is by lifting up in prayer one family from our church each day of the year. 5 WOMEN OF FAITH - Our mission is to enhance lives of women through service, fellowship and education. Monday, March 28 th we will be watching the movie Courageous beginning at 6:00pm in Hanson Hall. Monday, April 25 th - Pastor Jami will be teaching us about the Bad Girls of the Bible (Part 2). This will be a fun and interactive evening which will begin at 6:00pm. Watch for a sign-up sheet to be posted in the narthex. ALL are invited to attend any of the events that you may be interested in. Any questions, please call Jane Tretiak in the church office at VERA BRADLEY BINGO - On Saturday, April 23 rd the youth group will hold a Vera Bradley Bingo. The proceeds will benefit the 2018 National Youth Gathering in Houston. Doors open at 11:00AM and bingo begins at 12:30PM. Tickets will be on sale in March and cost $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door for 20 games of bingo. There will also be Specials and a Chinese Auction. The kitchen will be open as well. We are currently in search of sponsors (individuals or businesses) for our Vera Bradley products. There are four categories of sponsors so individuals do not need to sponsor an entire bag, but have the option of contributing towards one. If you or anyone you know would be willing to be a sponsor for the bingo, please pick up a form from the table in the narthex. We will also have a Chinese Auction at the bingo and welcome any donations of baskets, gift certificates, or other items. Thank you in advance for making a difference in the lives of the young people of our church! HOPE FEST - Hope Fest needs you! Hope Fest is less than 4 months away and planning meetings have already begun. This year Hope Fest will take place on June 17 th and 18 th. We again are looking for entertainment sponsors. This year we have the Rehrig Brothers on Friday night and The Large Flowers Heads on Saturday night. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, April 13 th at 6:00 pm. All are welcome! If anyone is interested in helping plan this annual church event or would like to help sponsor a band, please come to our meeting, contact Josh Larkin at (610) or cjoshlarkin@gmail.com, or talk to any committee member you may know. MEDICINE BOTTLE COLLECTION we will be collecting your old medicine bottles, any size (please remove the labels) and also items that are half used (also known as halfsies ). These personal care items are put into the medicine bottles by a group of women and then donated to local shelters on a weekly basis. They find that this is enough for one night s stay at a shelter (men and women). The items needed are hand lotion, shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap. Look for the box in the narthex!
