This is the backdrop in John s gospel for Peter s confession of faith. To whom can we go? asks Peter, in words we sometimes sing just before the gospel is read. You have the words of eternal life. In order to take such a stand, as Peter and Joshua did, Paul tells us to arm ourselves with the word of God. We pray in the Spirit that we might be bold ambassadors of the gospel. SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS: Please join us for Rally Day, September 9 th at 9:15 am in the Sanctuary ~ All are welcome. Please wear the color blue. The theme this year is Up, UP and Away with Jesus. HOLY BAPTISMS: This morning we are blessed to have the Baptism of: Ronan Christopher Zedalis: Ronan is the son of Zachary and Brittany Zedalis. Ronan was born on June 9, Please welcome Ronan as our newest baptized member of faith. Please no flash photography during the worship service. WORSHIP SCHEDULE: Please mark your calendars! The return of the regular Worship Schedule will commence on Sunday, September 9 th with Service of the Word at 8:00 am, Sunday School Rally Day at 9:15 am and Holy Communion Service at 10:30 am. Additionally, the nursery will be open and staffed.

3 SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE FOR GEORGE WOLF: Today we will be collecting the school supplies to fill the backpacks previously donated. Thank you to all who donated a backpack and/or school supplies. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated. The backpacks and supplies will be delivered to the school on Monday. Thank you again for helping our local children! WOMAN OF FAITH NEWS: Join us on Monday, August 27 th, as we learn how to reuse plastic bags to make sleep mats for the homeless. Karen Zimmerman will be teaching us how to make the mats. The group will then decide if we will make these for a community service project. So, please come and learn more about this very worthwhile project. We will meet with Karen in Hanson Hall at 7:00 pm. Before the meeting with Karen, our group will meet at 6:00 pm to finalize plans for our Suites and Treats event in October. Any questions, please contact Jane Tretiak at CONFIRMATION ORIENTATION: is TODAY at 10:00 am. New and returning Confirmation students and their parents/guardians are asked to come to our orientation following worship in the Sanctuary. A weekly Weeding Schedule has been prepared and is available in the Narthex on the bulletin board for anyone interested in sharing their talents of gardening with Hope. SENIOR CENTER LABOR DAY PARTY: The Senior Center will be holding their Labor Day Party on Wednesday, August 29 th with lunch served at 11:30 am and entertainment provided by Norm Spangler who performs Sinatra, 40s, 50s & 60s at 12:15 pm.
