It is the relationship between the shepherd and the sheep, one of mutual knowledge and love, that gives the shepherd authority. The shepherd s willingness to lay down his life for the sheep shows his love. The choir is truly reflective of the diverse interests and ethnicities within Muhlenberg College. VBS DONATION REQUEST: We are collecting 20 ounce empty Gatorade bottles with the caps for VBS for a craft. We will need approximately 250 bottles. Please bring in your bottles and place in the bin in the Narthex. Thank you. VBS NEWS: SAVE THE DATES! Vacation Bible School is coming July 9 th to 13 th. Your children will dive below the surface and venture onto an uncharted island where they will survive and thrive. Classes will be held from 9:00 am until 12 noon, with a closing program on Friday, July 13 th at 7:00 pm. Ages include 3 year olds (potty trained) to children completing 6 th grade in June Registrations can be made at vbs.hopecherryville.org or by completing a registration form located in the narthex. A t shirt is provided for each student registering by Sunday, June 17 th. Lots of help will be needed so please consider volunteering. A staff nursery is provided for volunteers if you have younger children who are not old enough to attend. Volunteers need to register as well. WOMEN OF FAITH: Looking for an afternoon of relaxation, fellowship and spiritual growth with other women who are looking for the same thing? Then join Pastor Jami and the Women of Faith for an afternoon spa retreat. We are planning to gather in Kuntz Hall on Sunday, April 29 th after the late service for a light lunch and then we will delve into faith issues as we relax and refresh at our very own spa. The afternoon will begin at 12:00 pm and will end at 5:00 pm. You will leave wishing you could stay the night to continue the experience! A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. 4 VERA BRADLEY BINGO: Youth Group will be hosting Vera Bradley Bingo on Saturday, May 5, 2018 to help raise money to attend the ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston. In addition to bingo we will have a Chinese Auction and food/baked goods for sale. Tickets can be purchased in advanced for $20 on April 1 st (at Easer Breakfast); 8 th, 15 th, 22 nd & 29 th after each service. You can also purchase tickets at the door on May 5 th for $25. SEEKING SNYOD DELEGATES: The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod Assembly is scheduled for Friday, June 8 th through Saturday, June 9 th at the Mohegan Sun Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. 5 JOURNEYS THROUGH GRIEF: Grief is a confusing, tangled and painful process of discovering how to live, feel, cope and heal in the midst of coming to terms with loss. No one should have to face grief alone. LCS offers "Journeys through Grief" counseling in small groups where for six 1½ hour sessions, you will learn about the stages of grief and explore your feelings about the loss you have experienced. Our goal is not to make grief disappear, but to equip the group's participants with the tools needed for lifelong healing and understanding. Under the guidance of a professional Christian counselor or trained facilitator, you will learn how you can live with the grief associated with loss. HOPE S HELPING HANDS: Today is the last day to place your order for the crab patty and lobster bisque sale! HHH will be taking orders after both services. Crab patties are 6 oz. and can be bought either breaded or unbreaded for $5.00 each. The lobster bisque soup comes in a 16 oz. container and sells for $4.00. Everything is made and packaged by Todd s Island Seafood in Allentown. Orders will be ready for pick-up on Sunday, April 29 th from 9:00 am 12 noon in the Kuntz Hall Kitchen. HELPING HANDS: Is requesting that the refrigerator in Kuntz Hall be emptied and cleaned in preparation of the upcoming Crab Patty Delivery on April 29th. 6 PROPERTY WORK / CLEANUP DAY: There will be a property work/cleanup day here at Hope Church on Saturday, April 28 th starting at 8:00 am. If you would like to roll your sleeves up and lend a hand, it would be greatly appreciated! EVANGELISM NEWS: National Day of Prayer: The National Day of Prayer will be on May 3 rd. In honor of this day, Pastor Jami will lead us in a worship service beginning at 11:30 am. Immediately following at approximately 12:15, there will be a light lunch and fellowship. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the Narthex. Please join us. Bingo: We will be playing bingo at the Weston Village residents on Wednesday, April 18 th at 10:00 am. This event is open to anyone wishing to join. YOUTH GROUP HAPPENINGS: On Sunday, April 29 th, the Youth Group will be going to Escape It in Lehighton at the Country Junction. The cost will be $20 per person. We will be leaving Hope Church at 1:30 pm and anticipate returning by 4:00-4:15 pm. BASKET COMMITTEE: The 20th Annual Spring Basket Social was held in Kuntz Hall on Friday, April 13 th. IT WAS A FESTIVE 20 TH CELEBRATION OF REMEMBRANCE, FUN AND SPECIAL SURPRISES! THANK YOU to everyone who in some way helped make it a successful fund raiser! $4, was the profit divided, with a check of $2, sent to The Northampton Area Food Bank and $ deposited into Hope's Good Samaritan Fund. $ was raised from the sale of baked goods to be used by Hope's Outreach Team toward the purchase of materials needed to make fleece blanket Christmas gifts for the Children of St. Stephen's Ministries, Allentown.
