His fortyday fast becomes the basis of our Lenten pilgrimage. In the early church Lent was a time of intense preparation for those to be baptized at the Easter Vigil. This catechetical focus on the meaning of faith is at the heart of our Lenten journey to the baptismal waters of Easter. IN PRAYER TODAY Grace, Belfast (Pastor David Kidd). LENTEN SERVICES Wednesday Lenten services will be held at 11:00am and on Wednesdays, March 8, 15, 22, 29 and April 5. Our theme for this Wednesday, March 8 is Justification by Grace Through Faith. SOUP DINNER & TABLE TALK DURING LENT - Join us as we gather for soup and table talk before midweek worship service. Five Wednesdays (March 8, 15, 22, 29 and April 5). There s a signup sheet on the board if you re inclined to make soup to share. 6:00 to 7:00 PM. SHARING OF THE PEACE during the cold and flu season, please feel free to share the peace without shaking hands. WOMEN OF FAITH we would like to thank Pastor Jami for teaching us about prayer beads and helping us make our very own set to take home with us this past week. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, March 27 th at in Hanson Hall. We will welcome Rich Mullen to our meeting as he presents Safety Tips for Women. He will be teaching us how to protect ourselves and stay safe with some very easy tips to follow. These safety tips will also help teach us about general awareness of our surroundings in different situations in our lives. All are welcome to attend!

3 HOPE HELPS THE NORTHAMPTON FOOD BANK Hope Lutheran Church is responsible for providing volunteers to work at the Northampton Area Food Bank during the month of March. Please see the sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board in the narthex for dates and times. For additional information please contact Leslie Daniel at EVANGELISM NEWS Bible Study: The Thursday evening Bible study continues to meet weekly at 6:30pm. We have started a new study entitled PLEASING GOD. Everyone is welcome to join this study at any time. We meet in the 2 nd grade classroom and our study is usually about an hour in duration. Evangelism Meeting: Second Thursday (note change) of each month at. New members and new ideas for this committee are always welcome. HOPE S HELPING HANDS - It is crab patty time again for Hope's Helping Hands just in time for Lent and those who are looking for a meat alternative for meals! We will be selling crab patties and lobster bisque soup after church services on Sundays - March 12, March 19 and March 26. Crab patties are 6 oz. and can be bought either breaded or unbreaded for $5.00 each. The lobster bisque soup comes in a 16 oz. container and sells for $4.00. We had great feedback on the lobster bisque soup that we offered for the first time in October. Everything is made and packaged by Todd's Island Seafood in Allentown. See any Hope's Helping Hands member to order or you can call Leslie Daniel at if you miss us at church. Orders will be ready for pick-up on Sunday, April 2 nd from 9:00amto 12:00pm in the Kuntz Hall kitchen. Thanks to everyone for supporting our fundraisers throughout the year. BUILDING FUND - Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville maintains a separate account specifically for the building fund. The building fund assures financing for the capital improvements of our facility, as well as emergencies that may arise throughout the year. Did you know there are special monthly envelopes just for the building fund? Take a look in your envelope packet, and donate to the building fund in THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS don t forget to direct your choice dollars.
