Yet in today's gospel Jesus advises his disciples to get away and rest, to take care of themselves. Sometimes we think that when others are in great need we shouldn't think of ourselves at all; but Jesus also honors the caregivers' need. IN PRAYER TODAY Jordan, Orefield (Pastor Jimmy Lee Werley). PASTOR CLARK KUNTZ - (PK) is our supply pastor this morning while Pastor Jami is at the National Youth Gathering in Detroit. Pastor Kuntz and his wife, Maureen, are members here at Hope Church. PK retired in 2008 after 22 years as Hope's pastor. He is presently serving part-time as chaplain at Lutheran Manor Apartments in Bethlehem and doing visitation for St. John's Church in Allentown. PK enjoys time with his family (3 children, 3 grandchildren!), the outdoors (walking, biking, tennis, sailing, etc), reading and the Philadelphia professional sports teams (hmmmm!). It is good to welcome PK back as supply pastor this morning. THANK YOU to Janet Filchner who is our supply organist this morning while David Ziegler is in Detroit with the youth group. SUMMER HYMN SING your favorite hymns will be sung for 15 minutes before each service. In order to accommodate as many requests as possible, we will only sing the first two (2) stanzas of each hymn requested. ELCA RISE UP YOUTH AND LEADERS are attending our National Youth Gathering in Detroit; they will return tomorrow, Monday, July 20 th. There are 18 youth and 5 leaders attending. Please keep them in your prayers.

4 CHURCH FAMILY PICNIC the Hope Church family picnic will be held TODAY at Indian Trail Park beginning at 12 noon. Please bring a covered dish to share; we are planning to eat lunch at approximately 12:30pm. There will be lots of good food to sample. Our Evangelism committee will supply hot dogs, burgers, rolls and beverages. Also please bring a prize for bingo and/or a prize to be won in the "cake" walk (although this prize can be something other than a cake). There will be lots of food, games, fun and fellowship for all ages. If weather permits; we plan to include some water games for our younger ones to enjoy. Everyone is welcome even if you have not previously signed up for the picnic. Come and enjoy the afternoon with your church family. Don t forget your lawn chairs. We will be using the second pavilion. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS Hope Church offers scholarship money to full-time college students. If you are attending your second year (or higher) you may submit an application to the church office. Applications are due TODAY, SUNDAY July 19 th. Applications are available on our website at hopecherryville.org or by calling the church office at WOMEN OF FAITH our July meeting will be a summer fun evening, to be held THIS TUESDAY, July 21 st at 6:00pm. We will be going to Leslie Daniel s house for a pool party/picnic. If you wish to make some jewelry, we will have all of our leftover supplies available from our jewelry making night for you to use and make yourself a new treasure to take home. We will also be finalizing plans for the next few month s meetings. ALL are welcome to attend. Please sign up on the sheet located on the bulletin board in the narthex. KNOEBELS TRIP SIGN UP NOW for Saturday August 1, We have a pavilion reserved for you at Knoebels Amusement Park and Picnic Grove in Elysburg, PA. We have the pavilion from 10:00 AM 10:00 PM. The signup sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the narthex! NEEDED the Christian Education Committee is in need of empty toilet paper rolls and juice boxes for their Rally Day which will be held on Sunday, September 13 th. Please place them in the box in the narthex. Watch for more information on Rally Day coming soon!!

5 SENIOR BIRTHDAY PARTY - On Saturday, August 8 th, there will be a Birthday Party for any senior member of Hope Church. The party/picnic will begin at 11:30am in Kuntz Hall. There will be food, fellowship and entertainment. Mark your calendars now. Sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board in the narthex. SHRIMP BOIL - Hope s Helping Hands is sponsoring a SHRIMP BOIL (think clambake but with shrimp instead of clams) on Saturday, August 15 th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Kuntz Hall. Orders will be taken after all church services on July 26 th, August 2 nd, and August 9 th. Dinner includes ½ lb. of shrimp, ¼ lb. sausage, red potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, roll and butter and dessert for $ Dinners will be available for EAT IN or TAKE OUT. All orders must be pre-paid. Orders may also be placed by calling Leslie Daniel at Hope you will come join us for this delicious summer meal. The Hope s Helping Hands mission team thanks everyone who has supported our events as we continue our ministries of helping others in need. HOPE CHURCH S YARD SALE The yard sale at Hope Church will be held on Friday, September 4 th from 8:00am to 2:00pm and Saturday, September 5 th from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Start cleaning those basements, garages and attics and get your items ready for our annual yard sale. Watch future bulletins and newsletters for more information. CHURCH OFFICE Summer office hours continue through the week of August 31 st. The church office will be open from 9:00am 3:00pm from Monday through Friday. When Jane is out of the office, it will be staffed by our office volunteers and Nina Weiss, our Communications Specialist. THANK YOU - The Souders family would like to send out a big THANK YOU to everyone at Hope. We truly appreciate your support, prayers, and fabulous dinners.
