Yet Mark may speak to our experience more directly than the other gospels. Corinthians and Acts fill out the story by telling of appearances of the risen Christ. 3 PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK: The Congregational Council is encouraging all our members to grow in their spirituality through a regular Prayer Life. One way of doing this is by lifting up in prayer one family from our church each day of the year. Vacation Bible School is coming July 9 th to 13 th. Your children will dive below the surface and venture onto an uncharted island where they will survive and thrive. Classes will be held from 9:00 am until 12 noon, with a closing program on Friday, July 13 th at 7:00 pm. Ages include 3 year olds (potty trained) to children completing 6 th grade in June Registrations can be made at vbs.hopecherryville.org or by completing a registration form located in the narthex. A t shirt is provided for each student registering by Sunday, June 17 th. Lots of help will be needed so please consider volunteering. A staff nursery is provided for volunteers if you have younger children who are not old enough to attend. Volunteers need to register as well. VERA BRADLEY BINGO: Youth Group will be hosting Vera Bradley Bingo on Saturday, May 5, 2018 to help raise money to attend the National Youth Gathering in Houston. In addition to bingo we will have a Chinese Auction and food/baked goods for sale. Tickets can be purchased in advanced for $20 on April 1 st (at Easer Breakfast); 8 th, 15 th, 22 nd & 29 th after each service. You can also purchase tickets at the door on May 5 th for $25. If you would like to help support our efforts with this fundraiser, we are also in need of the following: monetary donations, food donations, baked goods and Chinese auction items. 4 EVANGELISM COMMITTEE: We will be sponsoring a bus trip to Sight and Sound in Lancaster to see the show Jesus on Wednesday, June 27 th. The cost for the trip, which includes bus ticket, show and dinner at Shady Maple, will be $90.00 for Adults and $54.00 for Children under 12. The bus will leave Hope Church at 8:30 am and return to Hope Church at approximately 6:00 pm. A sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board. For questions or further information, please contact Sharyn Kratzer at MARK YOUR CALENDAR: For April 22 nd as we welcome and will rejoice, with the Muhlenberg College Gospel Choir, a spirit-filled musical ensemble which is comprised of students from various places, races and creeds. The Gospel Choir is truly reflective of the diverse interests and ethnicities within the Muhlenberg College community. 20th ANNUAL SPRING BASKET SOCIAL: Save the Date: 20 th Annual Spring Basket Social - Friday, April 13 th - 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Special surprises to celebrate the 20 th anniversary of this combined ministry fundraiser for The Northampton Area Food Bank and Hope's Good Samaritan Fund. RALLY TO END RACISM: On Wednesday April 4 th, Pastor Brian is leading this trip to Washington DC to participate in the National Council of Churches' Rally To End Racism, commemorating the 50 th anniversary of the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We will be departing at 4 am on Wednesday morning and travelling to DC as a group. The rally will be 9 am - 3 pm and many denominational leaders will be present, including our own ELCA Presiding Bishop, Elizabeth Eaton. WELCA SPRING CLUSTER EVENT: Please mark your calendar for Saturday, April 7 th at 9:00 am. The event will be held at Good Shepherd Kreidersville. The topic is The Sandwich Generation. There is a registration fee of $3.00 and registration commences at 8:30 am. All are welcome to attend. JOURNEYS THROUGH GRIEF: Grief is a confusing, tangled and painful process of discovering how to live, feel, cope and heal in the midst of coming to terms with loss. No one should have to face grief alone. LCS offers "Journeys Through Grief" counseling in small groups where for six 1½ hour sessions, you will learn about the stages of grief and explore your feelings about the loss you have experienced. Our goal is not to make grief disappear, but to equip the group's participants with the tools needed for lifelong healing and understanding. Under the guidance of a professional Christian counselor or trained facilitator, you will learn how you can live with the grief associated with loss. 6 WOMEN OF FAITH: Looking for an afternoon of relaxation, fellowship and spiritual growth with other women who are looking for the same thing? Then join Pastor Jami and the Women of Faith for an afternoon spa retreat. We are planning to gather in Kuntz Hall on Sunday, April 29 th after the late service for a light lunch and then we will delve into faith issues as we relax and refresh at our very own spa. The afternoon will begin at 12:00 pm and will end at 5:00 pm. You will leave wishing you could stay the night to continue the experience! A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. Mark your calendars! HHH will be taking orders April 8 th, April 15 th and April 22 nd after both services. Crab patties are 6 oz. and can be bought either breaded or unbreaded for $5.00 each. The lobster bisque soup comes in a 16 oz. container and sells for $4.00. Everything is made and packaged by Todd s Island Seafood in Allentown. SEEKING SNYOD DELEGATES: The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod Assembly is scheduled for Friday, June 8 th through Saturday, June 9 th at the Mohegan Sun Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. We are looking for two delegates to represent Hope one male delegate and one female delegate. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Jami.
