The church's repeated celebration of the holy communion counters that tragic reality in a continued showing forth of the death of Jesus until he comes. 3 PASTOR S BIBLE STUDY will not be held on Thursday, July 4 th and 11 th. Anyone is welcome to join the Pastor s Bible Study at any time which meets on Thursday mornings at 10:00am. Questions, please speak to Pastor Jami. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS Hope Church offers scholarship money to full-time college students. If you are attending your second year (or higher) and have completed an application, please return it to the church office by Friday, July 26 th. Applications are still available on our website at hopecherryville.org or by calling the church office at FIRST HOLY COMMUNION Any young people who have completed 5 th grade or higher and did not complete instruction for receiving Holy Communion can sign up for a special summer session beginning on Wednesday, July 3 rd from 6:30-8:00pm. The instruction will last for four weeks. Contact the church office at or Pastor Paulette if you are interested in attending. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL For a Rip Roaring, Rootin Tootin Time Join us for our 2013 Roundup at VBS July 8 th through July 12 th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. VBS is offered for children ages 3 (potty trained) to children completing 6 th grade in June. You can still register at vbs.hopecherryville.org, or pick up a registration form on the table in the narthex. Also, powdered drink mixes and snacks are needed for the week of Bible School. Please place them in the Kuntz Hall kitchen marked VBS. ALTAR GUILD HELP is needed. Will you please consider becoming an Altar Guild volunteer?? Join an existing team or gather a few friends or family members and create a new team. Training will be provided. Teams are scheduled for one month at a time. Please call Jane Tretiak in the church office at for more information or to volunteer. GOOD SHEPHERD volunteers are needed to help move residents to and from their church services on Sundays, June 30 th and July 7 th. If you can help please contact Linda Derr at for more information. CONFIRMATION PICTURES are available to be picked up in the church office. CHURCH OFFICE HOURS June office hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00am-3:30pm. SINGERS NEEDED - Singers wanted for a massed ecumenical choir celebrating the full communion partnership between the Episcopal, Evangelical Lutheran and Moravian Churches of America at a Lovefeast and Song Service of Christian Unity to be held on Sunday, July 14 th at 7:30 PM at Central Moravian Church. The Episcopalians and Moravians are dominating this choir and we need more Lutherans. There are three opportunities for rehearsal of which you only need to attend one: Sunday, June 30 at 3PM at College Hill Moravian Church, Bethlehem; Wednesday, July 10 at 7 PM at Central Moravian Church; Sunday, July 14 at 6 PM at Central Moravian Church right before the service. FAMILY FAITH CHALLENGE The theme of the family faith challenges for June 2013 is the First Article of the Apostle s Creed, On Creation. We challenge you to think about God, creation, and our responsibility to care for creation. June 23-29: Read the First Article, On Creation, and the explanation in Luther s Small Catechism. Spend a day with God giving thanks for creation. Look at all the wonderful colors, sizes, and shapes of creatures and creations. What can you find in creation that is red? Orange? Green? Blue? Violet? Pray for those who help preserve creation, such as forest rangers, people who garden, and people who recycle. PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK The Congregational Council is encouraging all our members to grow in their spirituality through a regular Prayer Life. One way of doing this is by lifting up in prayer one family from our church each day of the year.
