In Ephesians Paul tells us what this life Jesus gives us looks like, this life we live as those marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit in baptism. Please note we are in need of the following items (all to be placed in the storage units): Grocery store bags & Newspapers for packing items and Canned Soda & Water (to sell at yard sale). PHOTO DIRECTORIES: The Church Photo Directories are HERE!!! If you ordered a directory, please pick-up your directory after service or stop by the church office during the week (Monday Friday; 8:30 am 3:00 pm) to take your directory. SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS: Thank you to all the teachers and helpers for attending the Hope s Sunday School Workshop. We appreciated your attendance, participation, suggestions, questions and stories. We HOPE that you were able to take something away from that workshop to strengthen your Christian ministry and your daily lives. Please join us for Rally Day, September 9 th at 9:15 am in the Sanctuary ~ All are welcome, please wear the color blue. The theme this year is Up, UP and Away with Jesus. WEEKLY WEEDING: Do you have a green thumb? Would you like to help Hope Church s Gardens look fresh and pristine? A weekly Weeding Schedule has been prepared and is available in the Narthex on the bulletin board for anyone interested in sharing their talents of gardening with Hope.

3 BAKE SALE: We will be having a bake sale at the Annual Church Yard Sale on Friday, August 31 st and Saturday, September 1 st from 8:00 am 2:00 pm. If you would like to bake, Thrivent Funds will buy your baking supplies. Please contact Judy Christman at and Judy will purchase the items you need and deliver to the kitchen in Kuntz Hall today, Sunday, August 12 th. Please help us have a Great Bake Sale! CENTERING PRAYER RETREAT: On Saturday, August 18 th, Hope s Centering Prayer group will have a one day retreat at St. Francis Center for Renewal in Bethlehem, Pa. This promises to be a wonderful experience. Even if you have not joined us for Centering Prayer before, you should join us for this retreat! We will gather at 10 am and leave the retreat center at 4 pm. Lunch will be provided. For more information, please contact Pastor Brian or sign-up on the events bulletin board. SPONSOR A BACKPACK: We are looking for individuals who are willing to sponsor a backpack for a student at one of our neighborhood schools. George Wolf Elementary School hosts a food bank program for some of its neediest families. A bag of food is sent home every week with some nonperishable items for the family. The bags are heavy for the children and we would like to purchase Rolling Backpacks for the students to use so they do not have to carry it home. The cost of each backpack is $20.00 and the school would need 27 backpacks to start the school year. In the Narthex, there is a sample backpack to view. On the bulletin board is a display of paper backpacks. If you are interested in sponsoring a backpack, take an envelope from one of the backpacks, write your name on the outside of the backpack, fill out the form inside the envelope and enclose $ Put your envelope in the offering plate or turn into the church office. LAMPa LETTER WRITING: Hope s LAMPa Group will be meeting on Tuesday, August 21 st at 6 pm in Hanson Hall for a special letter writing event. If you are passionate about a specific social justice issue and would like to advocate for it by writing to policy makers, come join us on the 21 st and be a voice for those in need YOUTH LEADER MEETING: On Sunday, August 19 th, following service, the youth leaders will be meeting in Pastor Jami s office to discuss upcoming events. If you have a passion for youth ministry and would like to join our leader team, please contact Pastor Brian, or just come on the 19 th and see what we are up to!

4 WOMAN OF FAITH NEWS: Nazareth Ford will be hosting the Women of Faith group in their suite for the Iron Pigs home game on Tuesday, August 14 th. Seating is limited to 18 and the event is open to all women of the Congregation. A sign-up sheet is located in the Narthex on the bulletin board for anyone interested. Please note, tickets will be distributed at the church on August 14 th between 5:30 pm and 5:45 pm. The carpool will then leave together from the church to head to the game. If you need your tickets to go directly to the game, please contact Debbie Leibenguth at etc Join us on Monday, August 27 th, as we learn how to reuse plastic bags to make sleep mats for the homeless. Karen Zimmerman will be teaching us how to make the mats. The group will then decide if we will make these for a community service project. So, please come and learn more about this very worthwhile project. We will meet with Karen in Hanson Hall at 7:00 pm. Before the meeting with Karen, our group will meet at 6:00 pm to finalize plans for our Suites and Treats event in October. One way of doing this is by lifting up in prayer one family from our church each day of the year. 5 HOPE S HELPING HANDS SHRIMP BOIL: It s Shrimp Boil time again! Come join Hope s Helping Hands on Saturday, August 18 th for our 4 th Annual Shrimp Boil. Orders will be taken after church today. Dinners include ½ lb. of shrimp, ¼ lb. sausage, baby potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, roll and butter, and dessert for only $ Dinners will be available for TAKE OUT ONLY. Dinners for Take Out can be picked-up in Kuntz Hall during half hour intervals (you choose 4:00 to 4:30, 4:30 to 5:00, 5:00 to 5:30, or 5:30 to 6:00 pm for pick-up when you order your meal). All orders must be prepaid. Orders may also be placed by calling Leslie Daniel at until August 12 th.
