Our hymnal has a lot of hymns to choose from, so pick your favorites and we will sing them. In order to accommodate as many requests as possible, we will only sing the first two (2) stanzas of each hymn requested. PASTOR S BIBLE STUDY will not be held this Thursday, July 11 th. Anyone is welcome to join the Pastor s Bible Study at any time which meets on Thursday mornings at 10:00am. Questions, please speak to Pastor Jami. CARD SHOWER has been requested for Bea Burbes. CHURCH OFFICE SUMMER HOURS - Now through Labor Day, Jane Tretiak will be in the church office from 7:30am to 12:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Friday, she will be in the office from 7:30am- 3:00pm, Jane will be off on Tuesdays; therefore the church is not always staffed on Tuesdays. The answering machine is always on, please leave a message and someone will respond as soon as possible. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS Hope Church offers scholarship money to full-time college students. If you are attending your second year (or higher) and have completed an application, please return it to the church office by Friday, July 26 th. Applications are still available on our website at hopecherryville.org or by calling the church office at A DISASTER RESPONSE TEAM TRIP - to Tuscaloosa, AL, is being planned for November We will be working with the team from Ziegels Church and Habitat for Humanity to offer a housing blitz for the week. The approximate cost is $350 per person for air fare and housing. Look for the sign-up sheet on the Narthex bulletin board or talk to Doris Zellers ( ) for further details. The deadline for sign-ups is TODAY, July 7 since there are only 10 spots available for our group. A fundraiser will be held to help defray the costs for people interested in attending this exciting mission opportunity. CHILDREN S BOOKS - St. Stephen's Lutheran Outreach Center in Allentown is looking for new or gently used children's books for their Book Nook. The books will be used during summer playground sessions and an after school program for children in the coming school year. FAMILY FAITH CHALLENGE The theme of the family faith challenges for July 2013 is the Second Article of the Apostle s Creed, On Redemption. We challenge you to think about God, creation, and our responsibility to care for creation. July 7-13: Read the Second Article of the Apostles Creed, On Redemption, and the explanation in Luther s Small Catechism. What do you think the word Lord means? Look it up in the dictionary. When we say Jesus is Lord, we mean it is to him that all allegiance, obedience, and worship is due, and we are completely committed to him. Make an acrostic of the word LORD like Light, Obedience, Redeemer, Death- Defyer. Post your acrostics on our Facebook page.

4 HOPE CHURCH S YARD SALE - The yard sale at Hope Church will be held on Friday, August 30 th and Saturday, August 31 st. Start cleaning those basements, garages and attics and get your items ready for our annual yard sale. Items can be brought to church on Saturdays only in July and August from 8:00am -1:00pm, beginning Saturday, July 17 th. If Saturdays do not work for you to drop off your items; you can make other arrangements by calling Ralph Fisher at or Please see the flyer on the bulletin board for a list of items that are NOT being accepted. PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK The Congregational Council is encouraging all our members to grow in their spirituality through a regular Prayer Life. One way of doing this is by lifting up in prayer one family from our church each day of the year. Requirements and schedules will be reviewed for the upcoming school year. This is a VERY IMPORTANT meeting; please mark your calendars now! A letter will be sent to all students with more information. SINGERS NEEDED - Singers wanted for a massed ecumenical choir celebrating the full communion partnership between the Episcopal, Evangelical Lutheran and Moravian Churches of America at a Lovefeast and Song Service of Christian Unity to be held on Sunday, July 14 th at 7:30 PM at Central Moravian Church. The Episcopalians and Moravians are dominating this choir and we need more Lutherans. There are two opportunities for rehearsals left of which you only need to attend one: Wednesday, July 10 at 7 PM at Central Moravian Church; Sunday, July 14 at 6 PM at Central Moravian Church right before the service. 5 SENIOR BIRTHDAY PARTY - On Saturday, August 17 th, there will be a Birthday Party for any senior member of Hope Church. The party/picnic will begin at 11:30 am in Kuntz Hall.
