It is so with the virtues too. They re actionable which means our ability to pursue the good improves with practice! Tuesday Roll Up Your Sleeves Someone once told Pope Francis that his words had inspired him to give a lot more to the poor. Pope Francis s response was to challenge the man not to just give money, but to roll up his sleeves, get his hands dirty, and actually reach out and help. Wednesday Heavenly View Gray and overcast...from my earthly perspective, but it s sunny above these storm clouds. Grace lets us see life from God s point of view. Daily Reflection Thursday Selfless Actions Sometimes, out of our great love for God, we actually do too much. In the process, if God doesn t bless our initiative, we might actually begin to doubt His fidelity. Ask yourself, do I seek God s will before I act or just His approval after I do? Friday God Our Father Wouldn t our relationship with God be different if we actually took Christ at His Word when He called Him Abba? Saturday The Most Complete Love Our suffering trusts us deep into the heart of the Trinity, the most complete and true form of love that exists. The love between God the Father and God the Son is a love so selfless and so real that it has to be expressed in its own complete person, the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. Sunday Victory is Forever Pain is temporary, but victory is forever. Suffering lasts a short time, but the joy of Christ is eternal. Don t believe me? Just ask a mother moments after giving birth. Suffering brings life to life in a newer, more profound way. Like life, suffering is a mystery, designed to point us back to our Creator. 3 Volume 62, Number 22, Page 3 ~ From the Pastor ~ My heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. Romans 10:1 Stewardship of Finances Offertory (May 21-22, 2016) $ 2,15300 Total: $ 2, My brothers and sisters in Christ, On this solemnity of the Body and Blood of Our Lord, we renew our faith in the great gift of the Holy Eucharist. Corpus Christi celebrates the greatest treasure of the Church: the Holy Eucharist, which Our Lord Jesus said is the means of being truly one with Him on this earth and the way to Eternal Life. Will we ever allow ourselves to walk away and abandon Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist through sin? Why do so many people do so? Or, like St. Peter, do we realize the greatness of the gift and respond, "Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. (John 6:68). Today, let us remember two important things: Jesus command: Do this in memory of me. (Luke 22:19) We MUST celebrate the Holy Eucharist faithfully and reverently on the Lord s Holy Day. Secondly, St. Paul s serious admonition: Whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body and blood of the Lord. A person should examine himself, and so eat the bread and drink the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself. (1 Corinthians 11:27-29). We must NEVER commit the sacrilege of receiving the Lord s Body and Blood while in the state of mortal sin. Thanks be to God for this indescribable gift of life! Let us respond with gratitude by celebrating the Holy Eucharist faithfully, reverently, and worthily. In Christ the Lord, Fr. Vidrine CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION Next Sunday - June 5 - we will have our Corpus Christi Procession following the 9:00 am Mass. Weather permitting, we will process outside around the block ending with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the church. Everyone is invited to participate in this event. This is an excellent opportunity to give public witness to our faith in the Real Presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Even if you normally attend the 4pm Anticipated Mass on Saturday, please make an effort to join us for the Procession on Sunday. Remember the Lord s promise: Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day (John 6:54). Come, let us adore Him! Please remember to put St. Anthony Church in your will. - The Church Office will be closed on Monday, May 30 in observation of Memorial Day Intentions of Pope Francis for the month of May Universal: That in every country of the world, women may be honored and respected and that their essential contribution to society may be highly esteemed. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and returned to its former quietude. You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem, where a stormless eternity awaits us.
