There were twelve tribes of Israel, twelve Twelve would have also been has also lived a whole cycle of her life ostracized from others. Individuals have life cycles, institutions and communities have life cycles, parishes have life cycles. There are points in time when changes are necessary and inevitable. They are necessary for growth and generativity (a concern for establishing and guiding the next generation). In the second reading from 2 Corinthians 8, Paul tells us, though he was rich, for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich. Not that others should have relief while you are burdened, but that as a matter of equality your abundance at the present time should supply their needs, so that their abundance may also supply your needs, so that there may be equality. As it is written: Whoever had much did not have more, and whoever had little did not have less death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living. He fashioned all things that they might have being; and the creatures of the world are wholesome, and there is not a destructive drug among them nor any domain of the not want us to be unbearably burdened or miserable; He has created us (all of us) for joy. Once we realize that we -focused attention, we enter a new cycle of life and see more clearly the needs of others. The more attentive we are to the true needs of others, the more effectively we can respond and shoulder to protect what is possibly not improving ourselves in the long run anyway. Summer can be a nice disruption to normal patterns and a natural time for re-evaluation or the beginnings of a new life cycle. -Fr. This regular ing offers a Biblical perspective on the many and timely social issues of our times. Terry Moore and Deacon Paul Graham will lead a pilgrimage to religious, historical and cultural sites in England and Scotland. The pilgrimage will visit early Christian monasteries in Scotland founded by St. Columban and several historic additional information are in the Gathering Space. An informational meeting is scheduled for Sunday, July 8 at 6:30 pm in Room A. Faith Formation Faith Formation - Children, Teens and Families Saint John the Baptist Parish offers Faith Formation Classes (CCD) for children in Preschool age 3 7th Grade. Registration for Faith Formation, First Communion and Confirmation is now open for the year. Registration and payment is completely online. Please Rachel for the link and registration instructions. Classes begin in late August and continue through the end of April. Classes are held 9:40am-10:50am on Sunday mornings.
