Instruction class is on the first Sunday of the month. Baptisms are celebrated on the following Saturday. Sacrament of Marriage: Call the church office at least six months prior to the anticipated date of the wedding. Anointing of the Sick: Anytime during office hours. Call for an appointment. Communion to the Sick: Please call the church office when someone is unable to attend Mass and wishes to receive Communion. 3 Prayer for Hurricane Season O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its quietude. You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control; the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season we turn to you O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach heavenly Jerusalem where a stormless eternity awaits us. CEMETERY: We request there be NO GLASS vases put in the cemetery. There have been complaints of broken glass in various parts of cemetery causing numerous problems. If glass vases are placed on the tomb, they will be removed and discarded. Thank You for your cooperation!

They kept communities safe, and were there to alert them to any impending danger or attack. Before locks, alarms, and security systems, watchmen were the protectors, the safety measure. So when the Lord charges Ezekiel as a watchman today, it is a weighty charge. So weighty, we learn, that if Ezekiel fails to sound the alarm for those around him and they perish in a state of wickedness, Ezekiel will be held responsible! This profound connection between God s will on earth and in heaven is repeated in today s Gospel, where Jesus instructs us that we are to be the security force, the watchers placed on alert that nowhere in the Body of Christ, the church, will there be any two members of the one Body who are not reconciled. Scripture tells us that Jesus reconciled all things in heaven and on earth through the blood of his cross. But we are given the mission to continue that reconciliation on earth as in heaven through our ceaseless efforts to be, as Paul would write, ambassadors of reconciliation. Let us not get too comfortable thinking that we are responsible only for keeping our own lives from the path of wickedness and disagreement. We are also held accountable for the lives of the members of Christ s body around us. SVD Youth Day Conference, sponsored by SVD Associates of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas will be held on Saturday September 23, 2017 beginning at 8 AM and ending at 5 PM with a celebration of Holy Mass. All youth, church pastors and youth minister leaders are invited to attend. All students from public and catholic school, CCD and RCIA classes, ages 10 through 19 are invited. It is required that one adult chaperone be in attendance with each group of 10 students. The registration fee is $15 per person. Please call the parish office at for registration information.
