It s more a matter of being true to your own beliefs and principles, doing your best, even in the smallest of things, and never taking for granted the simple joys in life such as laughter, a perfect day, or a loyal friend. For all the money in the world can t buy self-esteem, character, contentment, love or happiness and these are the very things that make life worth living. However you define happiness and success, may you find and enjoy them every day of your life. 3 JUNE 19, TH ANNUAL ST. THERESA FEAST Our 15 th Annual feast will be held from July 20 th to the 24 th. The feast committee has been hard at work planning for another great event. Games, rides, & fantastic food our indoor casino a flea market religious observances each night our procession through the neighborhood with the statue of St. Theresa nightly entertainment and much, much more. As always there will be lots of fun for everyone. So please mark your calendars and tell your family and friends. GRAND RAFFLE In conjunction with the feast, we will hold our Grand Raffle. Each family should have received two raffle tickets in the mail. The grand prize will be the winner s choice of a 2011 Mercedes C300 or $30,000. The 2 nd prize will be $1,000 and the 3 rd prize will be $500. There will only be 1000 tickets sold at a cost of $100 each. Our early bird drawing is only 2 weeks away if your ticket stubs are in before June 27 th you qualify. The winner of the early-bird will receive $ and 3 additional free tickets for the Grand Raffle. Once again we ask for your help. Please make every effort to buy these raffle tickets. If you can t buy them for yourself take a raffle to your place of work or a family gathering. Ask four or five people to share in the cost of a ticket. Collect $20.00 to cover their share of the ticket and then hopefully they can share the $30,000 grand prize. Please give it a try as your efforts will continue to make The St. Theresa Community a Better Place. Again, fellow parishioners will be in the front of Church to accept your raffle tickets or give you any additional tickets that you may need. THIS YEARS THEME Each year since the inception of the feast we have had a catchphrase that is the underlying theme of that years feast. The catchphrase is seen on the t-shirts of the volunteers and is the theme around which the religious observances were based. This year as we celebrate The Year of the Mass we have chosen as our theme Come to Mass, in the Lord s House, on the Lord s Day. We hope that you and your family will take the opportunity to attend one of the special masses and observances that will be said during the feast. A complete schedule will be posted in the bulletin shortly. VOLUNTEERS Naturally our feast could not be accomplished without the help of hundreds of volunteers. If you worked in the past we need you again. If you haven t we need you now. Nothing is as rewarding as spending a couple of hours in service to your community. Fellow Parishioners will be in the back of the Church to assist you and answer any questions you may have. Please be aware that the NYC Street Activity Permit Office has shortened the hours on the Wednesday and Thursday of our Feast. For that reason we will not need as many volunteers as we have had in the past on those two nights. Please keep that in mind when choosing which nights to work. As always the feast committee thanks you for all of your efforts. ADVANCE RIDES Advance ride tickets at a discount are now available in the Church Gift Shop or weekdays from 9:00AM to 4:30PM in the rectory. During the feast each ride will require one ride ticket. You are now able to buy 10 ride tickets for $20.00 and save $10.00 over the individual ticket price at the feast. So why wait on long lines and pay more. Save time and money by purchasing your ride tickets in advance. PARISH AFGHAN Once again this year we will be raffling off The Parish Afghan Throw. The Throw is crocheted by members of our parish and raffled off at our feast. Proceeds from the Throw go toward two grants that are given each year to 7 th Graders from our Parish that best demonstrate the virtues of our many Parish volunteers. Parishioners that can knit or crochet are asked to knit or crochet, in their favorite colors, an 8 x 8 square using 4-ply worsted weight acrylic yarn (not wool). This square is to be brought to the rectory weekdays, or dropped off at the raffle table outside of Church at any weekend mass. A fellow parishioner will then assemble all of the squares into The Parish Afghan Throw. It will then be raffled-off at our feast. One lucky family will have the privilege of winning and taking it home. CORPORATE SPONSORS there is a program associated with our feast where businesses can get involved and help as well. It s called our Corporate Sponsor Program. A tax deductible donation will get a business advertising and recognition during our feast for additional information call the rectory weekdays at The following companies have already signed-up and made donations as Corporate Sponsors to our feast.
