THERESA, BRONX SEPTEMBER 15, 2013 TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME From The Pastor, As our new school year begins, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the work that has been completed to our parish school building this past summer. After lengthy discussions between our parish consultants and various contractors over the past few years the following projects were completed: the original oil boilers; all of the original windows in our gym were replaced by new windows; brick pointing was done to the Mayflower Avenue entrance to our gym; electrical rewiring of the second floor of the school building to allow for air conditioning of classrooms; the installation of 11 air conditioning units. With the installation of these 11 units all of our classrooms from Pre-K through 8 th grade are now fully air conditioned. Along with these projects the regular maintenance that yearly goes on in the school every summer was also completed. New Gas Boiler - $210, 000 New Gym Windows - $13,000 Brick Pointing - $5,000 Rewiring of the 2 nd Floor - $20, New A/C Units - $13,000 Total cost of these summer projects = $261,322 WOW!!!! Because of the generosity of some of our parishioners who supported our Capital Improvement Campaign a few years ago, we were able to pay for all these projects in full. To those parishioners who so generously made their sacrificial gift to the Campaign, I want to offer on behalf of all of our parishioners especially the children my deepest gratitude. God is never outdone in generosity to those who do all they can for the love of God and the building up of His parish communities. Be assured that God will bless you and your families for years to come. And be assured you are in my prayers as well. A FAMILY PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF FAITH O God our Father, In Jesus you call all Christian families and homes to be signs of living faith. By the light of the Holy Spirit, lead us to be thankful for the gift of faith, and by that gift may we grow in our relationship with Jesus, your Son, and be confident witnesses to Christian hope and joy to all we meet. Amen REMINDER If you have a Sunday Mass offered for a loved one and are present at the Mass and would like to bring up the Offertory Gifts to the Altar, please let one of the ushers know before the Mass begins. We are now starting to restock our Food Pantry for distribution starting in October. We are asking for items such as tomato sauce, pasta, box juices, soups, coffee, crackers, rice, tuna fish, canned vegetables and other non perishable items that we may pass on to needy families in our community. God bless you for your kindness. NO GLASS JARS PLEASE. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Eucharistic Adoration takes place every Wednesday afternoon from 4:30 to 5:30PM and on First Friday from 7:30 to 10PM. Please consider a visit with Jesus before the Blessed Sacrament.

3 TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME ST. THERESA S 22 ND ANNUAL DINNER DANCE St. Theresa s Parish will be coming together once again for our Annual 22 nd Dinner Dance, on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Villa Barone Manor. Our dinner dance is an opportunity to come together as a parish to celebrate the wonderful achievements we have accomplished over the past years. As a way to highlight the tremendous contribution of so many of our parishioners to this community we have selected the following parishioners to be this year s honorees: Jillian Bauman, Pasquale Cala, Louis Masi, James Sonny McCord, Liya Petrides, Vinny & Gerri Pipolo, Denise Wolovich & Cathy Zingaro If you would like to congratulate any one of our honorees or all of them please stop by the Rectory for a Journal Ad form. HANDICAP ENTRANCE TO THE CHURCH The side entrance to the Church on Pilgrim Avenue will be open every Sunday for anyone who is handicapped or in a wheelchair. Also, this same entrance will be opened every weekday until 9:30AM. Throgs Neck Little League Blood Drive Throgs Neck Little League is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Friday September 20 th from 2:00-7:00PM. There will also be a Merchants Softball Game starting at 7:00PM. Game proceeds will go to Preston HS & Jacobi Hospital Auxiliary. Every Saturday before the 5:00PM Mass, the petitions entered into the book for that week are brought up to the altar of the Blessed Mother, where they remain for all the weekend Masses. Of course we have the Tree of Life which is a permanent memorial, but then there are those of us who want to do something on a weekly basis. Over the past few years we began taking donations for Altar Bread in memory of our loved ones, and each week their name and the name of the donor is posted in the bulletin. We are also taking donations for the burning of the Sanctuary Lamp. If you are interested in memorializing your loved one in any way, please call the Rectory and reserve a week. We hope this will help those who want to remember their loved ones in any of these ways.
