Paul then realized that although he was weak against persecution, he was strong in faith. Saint Michael the Archangel pray for them! Last Saturday evening, our parish group enjoyed an evening at Boulder s Stadium right here in Rockland. We had a very enjoyable evening of baseball, refreshments and fireworks. The Boulders used the occasion to honor our uniformed services and had one of our injured warriors throw out the first pitch. The Parish Activities Committee is planning future events such as a parish picnic in the fall. If anyone has suggestions for a trip or other events, please contact Ann Danaher at or Cathy Cohn at RENEW AND REBUILD UPDATE There can be no doubt that after this past week of 90+ temperatures, all of us are eternally grateful for the recently completed air conditioning system which was made possible because of the generosity of all those who contributed to our Renew & rebuild Campaign. Our next project will be the complete refurbishing and repaving of our entire parking lot and driveway areas. Engineers have already been analyzing our site plans and doing on site visits in preparation for this enormous undertaking. When the scope of the project is clearly identified, we will, once again, invite three contractors to offer their bids for the project. As before, we will have the ongoing support of the consultant from the ARAMACK Company which is the official contracting consultant to large capital projects. The actual work will be done in the fall. Meanwhile, I have arranged for some necessary patching to be done where potholes have developed. You can tell by the alligatoring cracks and over one hundred patches where the structurally vulnerable Ares are around the property. As always, we are very grateful to all who continue to send in their payments to the Renew & Rebuild office. If you ever experience any difficulties with your payment plan, please give us a call at the parish office and we ll be glad to help you out. We are also very grateful for the new pledges which still comes our way every once in a while. FALL RECREATIONAL BASKETBALL In person registration for the St.Aedan s Fall Recreational Basketball league will take place in the gym ****ADDITIONAL SIGN UP NIGHT 7/16 FROM 7-8PM**** Our recreational league is open to all currently registered parishioners in grades 3-8. Games will begin on 9/15 and be played on weekends. League fee is $100 and will include at least 10 games and a t-shirt. Please bring your Church envelope to registration. CARDINAL S ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP APPEAL UPDATE This year s Appeal is now entering the final phase of solicitation. Our assigned parish goal this year is $85, To date, we have received a total of $58, in pledges and gifts from 225 households and individuals. That s 70.5% of our goal to date. Your financial sacrifice is what funds the vital work of the archdiocese with Catholic Charities, Catholic Schools, Religious Education programs for our public school children, seminary training for our future priests, dignified retirement for our aged priests and religious and so many more programs which help all of us to respond to Christ who is present in our brothers and sisters around the archdiocese. 5 FESTA ITALIANA The Church of St. John the Evangelist and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church will hold its annual Festa Italiana on July 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th, 2018 on the Church grounds of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 92 South Lexington Avenue, White Plains, NY Thurs. & Fri. 6:00 pm 11:00 pm, Sat. 5:00-11:00 pm and Sun. 2:00 pm 8:00 pm. Our Festa Italiana features live Italian and American music and entertainment, an outdoor dance floor, children s games and entertainment, great Italian foods & desserts, American fare, espresso bar, air conditioned casino, and much more. It is facilitated by Ann Carucci, founder of HANDS, who lost her son and daughter-in-law, in a boating accident. Their bodies were never recovered. All groups meet from 6:30-8:00pm at HANDS International Headquarters, 9 Scott Drive, New City. The meeting this month is on July 17. Services are free of charge. Ann is also available for personal one-on-one counseling sessions. HANDS has a Widows And Widowers Group facilitated by Ann Carucci, who lost her husband.
