2 Page 2 From the Desk of Father Raaser FLU SEASON The flu season this year has been declared an epidemic as of January 12th. As a reminder, if you are sick, stay home, you are excused from the obligation to attend Mass; God doesn t expect the impossible from us. And, you do not have to shake hands at the sign of peace, but may express peace through a verbal greeting, or a simple acknowledgment. Do not be insulted if someone doesn t want to shake your hand, he may be saving you from getting sick. There are certain things you don t have to share, germs is one of them! God also tells Moses that anyone who pretends to speak in his words, or speaks in the name of other gods shall die. Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 Paul tells the Corinthians how an unmarried man or woman is able to devote themselves fully to God without concern for the needs of a spouse. Paul explains that God wants to help them promote good and devote themselves more fully to God. Gospel: Mark 1:21-28 As Jesus was teaching, a man with an unclean spirit came to the synagogue and asked if Jesus had come to destroy them. Jesus ordered the spirit out of the man, who shrieked violently as the spirit departed. The people were amazed at the authority he had over the spirit. Amen * * * * * 2nd Grade Sacraments The Sacrament of First Reconciliation will be celebrated on Saturday, January 27th (snow make-up day 2/3/18) at 11:00 am & 1:00 pm in our Church. Saint Margaret School & Monday s PREP Class will celebrate the Sacrament at 11:00 am. Tuesday & Wednesday PREP Classes will celebrate at 1:00 pm in our Church. Children should be dressed appropriately for the reception of the Sacrament, please no jeans or sneakers. Parents & family members will have the opportunity to go to Reconciliation as well.
