2 May 27, 2018 Dear Friends in Christ, Today we celebrate Trinity Sunday, we honor God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Three in one, one and three. In our infinite minds, we can never truly comprehend this, but by surrendering to faith, we at least can embrace some understanding. It is with this understanding, that we honor our Patroness with many titles, one being Mother of God. The Patron of the Archdiocese of New York, Saint Patrick, taught about the Trinity by using the image of the shamrock to help the faithful to come to an understanding of three (the clovers) but one (the shamrock). May the gift of the Trinity strengthen us in our lives as disciples of Christ. We celebrate Memorial Day tomorrow, May 28th. This weekend allows us to remember our loved ones, and for our veterans, their comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice in defending our country. With the unofficial start of summer, (after this past winter that carried into half of the Spring season), how welcomed Summer will be! The commercials we have seen for Memorial Day sales, making it a busy shopping day and the fun of family BBQ s, may we not lose sight of the meaning of tomorrow. As many of us will gather with family and friends, as we venture out for a day of fun, may each of us pause to reflect on those brave men and women who The Most Holy Trinity sacrificed their lives for what we are able to do as a strong people of a glorious nation. June 17th is Father s Day. In your latest envelope mailing there is an envelope for the remembrance of fathers, living or deceased. We also have Father s Day Spiritual Bouquet Cards. This card can be given to a father which will include that person in the novena of masses. Please return either envelope in the regular Sunday collection in the coming weekends. All envelopes will be placed on the altar for Father s Day and will remain on the altar for the rest of the month of June. DeGaris RENEW + REBUILD UPDATE As of May 23 rd, Immaculate has received 41 pledges totaling $457, This is 55% of our goal of $839, Please remember you have five years to pay off your pledge. You may return your pledge card by way of dropping it into Sunday s collection basket. May God bless all of you for your generosity to our Campaign. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR THE YEAR Registration is open for the year. Please call the PREP Office to make an appointment. If you are registering a new student into our program, please bring in a copy of the baptismal certificate if the child was not baptized at Immaculate Conception. CALENDAR REQUESTS FROM ALL PARISH ORGANIZATIONS All persons responsible for scheduling their parish organizations' meetings and special events for next year must submit their requests for use of parish facilities and the time needed to the Rectory NO LATER THAN MONDAY, JUNE 25TH. Requests should be dropped off at the Rectory. Thank You. SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND JUNE 3RD BLACK & INDIAN MISSIONS Fact: The annual Black and Indian Mission Collection is the first national Collection, authorized by the U.B. bishops in This Sunday, our parish will take up the annual Collection for Black and Indian Missions. Your financial contribution helps support the Catholic American Indian communities on reservations, in rural areas and inner cities. The collection also supports African American schools and evangelization programs particularly in the south. With open hearts let us unite ourselves with the love of Christ in supporting the Black and Indian Mission Collection. Please be generous in next week's Second Collection. 3 Church of the Immaculate Conception Page 2 MOTHER'S DAY FOR BIRTHRIGHT Our parish will have the opportunity to support those mothers who choose life for their babies by donating a new baby gift to Birthright. Our Girl Scouts will be collecting; any and all new baby items, especially disposable diapers and baby wipes. This year we would also like to ask for donations of new packs of yarn that is used to make baby blankets. Please bring your unwrapped baby items to Mass and leave it in the boxes provided in the vestibule of the Stony Point Church. If you prefer to make a donation checks should be made out to Birthright of Rockland and brought to the Rectory. We will have the collection boxes in the vestibule and the chapel of the Stony Point Church for the entire month of May. Thank you for your support. Father s Day Novena JUNE 17TH On Father s Day, June 17th, we will begin a Novena of Masses for fathers, living and deceased. If you would like to have loved ones remembered during theses Masses, please return the envelope from your monthly packet or pick up one at the entrance to the Church. There are also Father s Day cards for the living available at the entrance to the church. Envelopes are available on the tables in the vestibules. Father's Day Novena envelopes may be dropped in any of our collections prior to Father's Day. The flowers this week are In Memory of those Who made the Ultimate Sacrifice donated by A Grateful American FOOD PANTRY NEWS For the month of May, the Food Pantry will be collecting tuna fish. Please leave your donations in the collection bin in the vestibule of the Church. As always, we thank you for your generosity! REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS All those who are ill at home, in the hospital and in nursing homes, especially: William & Geraldine Neary, Jack O Brien, Judy Stroup, Billy Keenan, Michael Orapello, Theresa T kach, and Jaxon Waller. Our recently deceased:. We will announce at the Mass on Sunday for a period of one month the intentions of those who are sick and then we will print them for one month. After that we ask that you please contact us to make sure that they are placed on the list again for another cycle. It is the only way we know if someone has recovered. Page 3 MEN S CLUB ROCKLAND BOULDERS TRIP JULY 31 ST The Men s Club is running a trip to Palisades Credit Union Park on Saturday, July 21 st when the Quebec Capitales vs. the Rockland Boulders. Join us for Irish Heritage Day for tailgating, a great game, fireworks and live music at the Boulder Bar after the game all for $20 per person.
