MARRIAGES Arrangements should be made at least six months prior to the date selected DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY APRIL 8, 2018 First Reading: Acts 4:32-35 This passage describes the actions of the first community of Christians. They were of one heart and one mind. They had no rich or poor among them, for they shared all necessary items with one another. Second Reading: I John 5:1-6 John explains that we become God s children by believing in Jesus. When we love God and concern ourselves only with pleasing God, our faith is strong enough to conquer the evil in our world. Gospel: John 20:19-31 Jesus appeared to the disciples despite locked doors, breathed on them so that they could receive the Holy Spirit, and gave them the power to forgive sins in his name. Thomas, who was not present, refused to believe without seeing Jesus for himself. Jesus appeared again when Thomas was present, and told him, Blest are they who have not seen and have believed. PARISH EASTER EGG HUNT MANY THANKS TO OUR COMMITTEE Our 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by PREP and CYO was a huge success. We are very grateful to Marie Hussey and Nicola Sheehan for taking the lead in organizing, and carrying out this big endeavor on 2 fields following the 10:00 Masses on Easter. We thank them for their leadership and hard work and for smiles we saw on every child who participated in it! LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSS BRINGS PASSION TO LIFE Thank you to Deacon Maher for working to provide Good Friday s 28th Annual Living Stations of the Cross. Special thanks to Tom Flately who once again portrayed Jesus, and Larry McKearney who returned in the role of Pontius Pilot. We are especially grateful to all of our wonderful participants who helped bring the final steps of Jesus to life as He made His journey to Calvary. PARISH DIVINE MERCY CHAPLETTE THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 8th 3 PM Please join us for the celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday right here in our own parish church. Divine Mercy Sunday is a very special Solemnity which is always celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. It is a day that celebrates the merciful love of God shining through the whole of the Easter Triduum and the whole Easter mystery. It is a day of declaration of reparation for all sins. On this day, Jesus offers us the opportunity of receiving a plenary indulgence - the total forgiveness of all sins and punishment - to anyone who goes to confession (within 20 days of the feast) and receives Him in Holy Communion on that day. ( ) OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP St. Aedan's Church hosts a cancer support group (Our Lady Queen of Peace csg) every second (2nd) Tuesday of each month (excluding inclement weather). Our facilitator is Margie and can be reached at any time by phone at , text or (sjems7@gmail.com). We meet at 7pm in the parish meeting room. This horrific disease affects more than the cancer warrior - it affects all those around them. The group is opened to victims, survivors, family members, friends or anyone who is hurting because of this dreadful disease. Our next meeting is Tuesday, April 10th. ST.
