The woman pleaded with Elijah who took the son and prayed over him. When the child revived Elijah returned him to his mother who recognized Elijah as "a man of God." Second Reading: Galatians 1:11-19 Paul proclaims the gospel, not as human, but coming from the revelation of Jesus Christ. Paul continues to acknowledge his own sinfulness and call to grace. Gospel: Luke 7:11-17 The gospel continues to recount the miracles and healing powers of Jesus. As Jesus neared the gates to the city of Nain, they came upon a deceased young man who was being carried out of the city. His mother, a widow, and a large crowd accompanying the body, met Jesus on the way. Compassionately, Jesus comforts the weeping mother and restores life to the dead man. 3 As of this week, our returns indicate that, as of the last report, our parish has received total pledges amounting to $ 74,826 from 240 individuals and households. This represents 89.1 % of our assigned parish goal of $ 84, It comes out to an average gift of $ Please remember that pledges work best for many of us because we can pay them off over the next few months. PARISH COUPLES - 50TH AND 25TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES Couples celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary of sacramental marriage anytime during 2016 are invited to attend the Annual Golden Wedding Jubilee Mass with His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan at St. Patrick's Cathedral on Saturday, June 25th at 1:30 PM or Sunday, June 26th at 2PM. Pre-registration is required. Please contact the Parish Office for registration. This event is sponsored by the Family/Life Respect Office of the Archdiocese. You may still register for these Masses. If you are celebrating your 25th or 50th Anniversary, of sacramental marriage, our parish celebration is Sunday, June 19th at the 10:00 AM Mass. Again, please contact the parish office. LADIES GUILD St. Aedan s Ladies Guild End-of-the Year Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 14TH at 12:10 PM. It will be followed by a Luncheon at the Greenstar Restaurant. Thank you, members of the Ladies Guild, for all you do for St. Aedan s. Have a great summer! Back by Popular Demand! St. Aedan s Bible Camp 2016 Looking for something fun to do this summer? Come be a part of 1 week of Saint Aedan s Summer Bible Camp June 27th July 1ST - 9:30 AM to 12 Noon The cost is $75 per child and $60 for each additional child. This program will be open to all children who are entering grades K-3 and we getting close to our limit of 75 campers. The camp revolves around a daily Bible theme and includes arts and crafts, music, games, and so much more! Registration forms can be picked up at the Parish Office (Rectory). Registration forms and payment are due Friday June 3rd. Counselors: First preference will be given to returning counselors if you contact us by June 6th. We will have a waiting list on a first come first serve basis for new counselors. Any interested parents please contact Hannah Murphy at FINAL CALL LADIES AND GENTS! AOH DIVISION 5 MASS & DINNER DANCE SATURDAY, JUNE 11th HONORING MSGR. NEVIN & KIERAN McCORMACK The annual AOH Division 5 Dinner Dance will be held, this year, right here at Saint Aedan s. Our pastor, Msgr. Emmet Nevin will be honored as the Hibernian of the Year and our own Kieran McCormack will be the first recipient of the John Foody Community Service Award. Vigil Mass 7 PM in the church followed by the Dinner-Dance 8 PM Midnight in the parish gym. Live music will be provided by the well known Tommy Dunne and Jan Lynch Band and the event will be catered by Bailey s of Blauvelt. The cost for the entire evening will be just $60 a person which includes beer, wine and soda. All from the parish and local community are invited to attend. For last minute ticket requests, contact John Clancy or Tom Leavy PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM (PREP) Registration is ongoing for Religious Education classes that will begin September. Classes are filled on a firstcome basis. Please return your forms to the Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) office at 23 Reld Drive as soon as possible. It is especially important to have all incoming first grade students registered, as it is difficult to prepare for September without knowing how many new students to expect. However, forms can be left in the Parish Office if you find the PREP office closed due to summer hours. New registrants must be members of St. Aedan s Parish. ADULT LEARNING CENTER OF ROCKLAND We are now accepting applications for our June/July, 2014 classes. Classes are 2 hours, once a week for 6 weeks at a cost of $60 for the course. More advanced classes are 4 weeks at a cost of $40. Classes are small - only 8 students per class, with 1 instructor and 2 coaches. CYT is the only Christian theater group in NYC and began just 4 years ago in NYC with another location now in Hillsdale, NJ.
