High priests do not choose to take on this honor, but are chosen by God. Even Christ did not choose this office, but was chosen by God to be a priest forever. OCTOBER First Reading: Jeremiah 31:7-9 Jeremiah speaks of God reuniting the people of Israel after their exile. He states that although they departed in tears, God will lead them all back and protect them, because he is father to Israel. Gospel: Mark 10:46-52 A blind beggar approached Jesus and pleaded that Jesus heal him. Jesus called the man over and said, Your faith has healed you. The man immediately received his sight and proceeded to follow Jesus up the road.

4 DEACON RYAN MULDOON 2019 ANNOUNCED MASS BOOK NOW OPEN The Mass book for 2019 has now opened. You may come to the Parish House to have your masses celebrated for Please, no reserving masses over the phone. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Newly ordained Deacon Ryan Muldoon with his parents Bruce and Nancy and his sister Tara and her husband. +PARISH MEMORIAL MASS + ANNUAL PARISH MEMORIAL MASS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2 ND 7 PM During this Mass, we will have a special Ceremony of Remembrance and read aloud the names of all those who died and who had their funerals held here at Saint Aedan Church during the past year. Families or their designees will be invited to process down the aisle and place a flower in the vase in front of the altar as their loved ones name is called out. We will also remember, in our prayers, any of our other beloved dead who died elsewhere during the past year and whose names are sent to us. Our Parish Memorial Mass will be held on All Souls evening, Friday, Nov. 2 ND, at 7:00 PM. The mass will be concelebrated and will be followed by a light reception in the parish hall. HALLOWEEN TRICK OR TREAT AT THE PARISH HOUSE Attention all local goblins. This Halloween, ask your parents to bring you (and your cool costumes) by the parish house (rectory) for some Halloween treats. Boo! THIRD ANNUAL PARISH CONCERT FRIDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 9TH SAVE THE DATE! The concert is free of charge and those who attended last year know that this first class event is an evening not to be missed. Hospitality will be provided in the gym immediately following the concert. The parish raffle drawing will also take place at that time. Save the date on your calendars Friday evening, November 9 rd at 7 PM in the church. Our parish maestro, Matthew Surapine, will, once again be presenting us with a very talented as well as diversified concert program consisting of solos, duets, singing groups and musicians.

5 + FEAST OF ALL SAINTS + HOLYDAY OF OBLIGATION MASS SCHEDULE Wednesday Evening (10/31) Vigil Mass 5:30 PM Thursday (11/1) Masses 9 AM, 12 NOON, 4:30 Mass with PREP classes and 7 PM Evening Mass + PARISH ALL SOULS NOVENA OF MASSES+ We will begin our Month of All Souls by offering up a Novena of Masses beginning with our 7 PM Parish Memorial Mass held on All Souls Day evening and continuing throughout the week. The Novena will be offered up for all of our departed loved ones whose names have been returned to us in the special ALL SOULS envelopes. These envelopes, containing the names of our loved ones, will remain on the altar throughout the entire month of November. Envelopes are still available at our exit doors for those who did not receive them in the mail. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon them BIRTHRIGHT BABY BOTTLE DRIVE CONCLUDES THIS WEEKEND! OOPS! You forgot? OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CANCER GROUP "Our Lady Queen of Peace cancer support group, hosted by St. Aedan's Church, will be meeting Tuesday, Nov. 13th at 7pm in the parish meeting room. 6 + PATRIOTIC ROSARY + The Patriotic Rosary will be recited at St. Aedan s in the church on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30TH at 7 PM. There will be patriotic songs between each decade. ALL ARE INVITED!!!! FIRST PARISH MINISTRIES FAIR There are different gifts but the same Spirit. Last weekend, our parish held its first ever Ministries Fair in the Parish Meeting Room immediately following our Sunday masses. Many thanks to Christine Wilson for an outstanding job of organizing and running the fair. Thanks also to Marie Maher and the parish Hospitality Committee for providing our visitors with lots of coffee, hot chocolate and tasty dessert items. Visitors also received a free door prize ticket for a beautiful Thanksgiving basket. The fair was intended to draw attention to the almost two dozen different ministries our parishioners presently belong to as well as the proposed ministries which we are trying to launch in the months ahead. Each of our present ministries had an assigned table with a ministry coordinator or member present to pass out brochures and answer questions. There was a suggestion box allowing visitors to share their thoughts regarding our current or future ministry possibilities. A number of those in attendance wound be signing up and joining the ranks of our current ministries as well as some of our new ones such as working at the pancake/pasta meals; gardening around our parish grounds and the Joseph Ministry which will provide handyman services such as painting, carpentry, where needed around the parish. We would like to thank all those who were present to work our ministry tables and hospitality station as well as our parishioners who were out of their way to attend our fair. + PARISH ANOINTING MASS + Through this holy anointing may the Lord in his love and mercy help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord who frees you from sin save you and rise you up. Lord Jesus Christ our Redeemer, by the power of the Holy spirit ease the sufferings of our sisters and brothers and make them well again in mind and body. In your loving kindness forgive them their sins and bring them to life everlasting. Amen. Last Saturday we hosted our Fall 12 Noon Anointing Mass. Msgr. Nevin and Fr. Ivan concelebrated the mass and administered the Sacrament for the Anointing of the Sick to a little over a hundred people who turned out for this special event. The sacrament is a special source of God s saving grace. You may recall the words of the old Baltimore Catechism, A sacrament is an outward sign, instituted by Christ to give grace. In this sacrament, all those who are in need physically, emotionally or spiritually are invited to step forward and be touched by Christ himself as he works through his priestly minister to bring comfort to those in need. Those present were reminded that Christ often played the role of the Great Physician and the many instances in the scriptures when the people came to seek him out to be cured of all kinds of diseases or maladies. Jesus cured the lepers; the blind; the lame; the adulterous woman; the sick; those who were possessed, and even the dead. It is in this sacrament that we are able to turn to this same Jesus in the hope that He will bestow the physical or spiritual help we need to deal with whatever we are facing in our own personal lives. Many thanks to Marie Maher and the Hospitality Committee for providing some light refreshments following the mass. THE GREAT BEDTIME STORY PAJAMA & BOOK DRIVE IS NOW CONCLUDING.
