Adventures make one late for dinner. Bilbo Baggins, The Hobbit Being a Christian isn't ultimately about knowing that you're going to heaven when you die. Instead, being a Christian is about joining God in what he is doing in world. This means placing ourselves in God's story seeing where that adventure leads. It is a powerful invitation to step out of our comfortable lives find ourselves immersed in narrative God is writing. Easter is a pivotal part of God's story. On first Easter Sunday, nearly two thous years ago, Jesus was raised from dead. Beginning at that precise moment in time space, God began to remake world. But God doesn't intend to remake world alone. He wants us to join him. After resurrection, Jesus appears to his disciples comforts m. At same time, though, he invites m to come join him on mission that he has begun. This is what Jesus says to his disciples in John's gospel: Peace be with you. As Far has sent me, even so I am sending you. John 20:21 So is resurrection comforting? Yes it is. It means that our debt of sin has been paid in full. But it also means we have work to do. We have great privilege of laboring with God to see his kingdom spread. Let us worship! 5 LECTIO SACRA Revelation 7:917 After this I looked, behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes peoples languages, sting before throne before Lamb, clod in white robes, with palm branches in ir hs, crying out with a loud voice, Salvation belongs to our God who sits on throne, to Lamb! And all angels were sting around throne around elders four living creatures, y fell on ir faces before throne worshiped God, saying, Amen! Blessing glory wisdom thanksgiving honor power might be to our God forever ever! Amen. Lectio Sacra means sacred reading. It has been practice of church for thouss of years to have portions of bible read during worship services. The assumption behind this practice is that we are people who need to be shaped by all of God s word. Then one of elders addressed me, saying, Who are se, clod in white robes, from where have y come? I said to him, Sir, you know. And he said to me, These are ones coming out of great tribulation. They have washed ir robes made m white in blood of Lamb. Therefore y are before throne of God, serve him day night in his temple; he who sits on throne will shelter m with his presence. They shall hunger no more, neir thirst anymore; sun shall not strike m, nor any scorching heat. For Lamb in midst of throne will be ir shepherd, he will guide m to springs of living water, God will wipe away every tear from ir eyes. The word of Lord! Thanks be to God! INTERLUDE Musical interludes are included in our service in order to provide space for reflection worship. Forgive us of our sins, for Jesus sake. And grant, Far, that from this day forward, We may live godly, righteous, sober lives, to glory of your holy Name. Amen. 15 SERMON TEXT John 10:2230 [22] At that time Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter, [23] Jesus was walking in temple, in colonnade of Solomon. [2] So Jews gared around him said to him, How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are Christ, tell us plainly. [25] Jesus answered m, I told you, you do not believe. The works that I do in my Far's name bear witness about me, [26] but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. [27] My sheep hear my voice, I know m, y follow me. [28] I give m eternal life, y will never perish, no one will snatch m out of my h. [29] My Far, who has given m to me, is greater than all, no one is able to snatch m out of Far's h. [30] I Far are one. Acts 9:363 [36] Now re was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works acts of charity. [37] In those days she became ill died, when y had washed her, y laid her in an upper room. [38] Since Lydda was near Joppa, disciples, hearing that Peter was re, sent two men to him, urging him, Please come to us without delay. [39] So Peter rose went with m. And when he arrived, y took him to upper room. All widows stood beside him weeping showing tunics or garments that Dorcas made while she was with m. [0] But Peter put m all outside, knelt down prayed; turning to body he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes, when she saw Peter she sat up. [1] And he gave her his h raised her up. Then calling saints widows, he presented her alive. [2] And it became known throughout all Joppa, many believed in Lord. [3] And he stayed in Joppa for many days with one Simon, a tanner. Revelation 7:917 [9] After this I looked, behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes peoples languages, sting before throne before Lamb, clod in white robes, with palm branches in ir hs, [10] crying out with a loud voice, Salvation belongs to our God who sits on throne, to Lamb!
