3 October 30, This Sunday at our 10:00am Mass we welcome Bishop Robert Brennan to preside at our special liturgy commemorating our 50th Anniversary as a Parish. Bishop Brennan represents our Diocesan Bishop Murphy and serves as Vicar General of the Diocese, Bishop Murphy s closest collaborator in the administration of the Diocese. We have planned a genuinely festive Mass and Celebration with a luncheon to follow for all attendees. If you read this before the Mass, please make every effort to come and fill the house with song and joy! All our musical groups will be playing! October 30:Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time In the Gospel today, Zacchaeus accepts our Lord joyfully; and the sign of his acceptance is his open house and his resolution to give half of his goods to the poor. In the month of October, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to bring God s love and mercy to families by providing food and money for utility and rent bills, etc. Thank You! You can bring a turkey (please, no more than 15 lbs.) or if that presents a problem, a supermarket gift card will be gratefully accepted. Turkeys or gift cards can be dropped off at the Rectory until Thursday, Nov. 17th. Canned goods that are traditional for Thanksgiving - yams, Cranberry sauce, coffee, canned vegetables, soup, juice, jello, gravy, stuffing, etc. can be dropped off at any time in the Church vestibule. Join us for Lectio Divina & coffee after Mass on Tuesdays in the lower church. Road Angels are needed to drive parishioners to and from doctor appointments. Please call the Pastoral Care Office if you can help at St. Francis of Assisi Baby Corner Needs Donations: Huggies diapers sizes, 3,4,5 and 6. We also need baby wipes and shampoo. 9 October 30, Thirsting for Healing? Living Water Center is a place which provides the Healing Waters of Counseling. Prayer and Hope to those who come through our doors in Melville. Our therapists are rooted in prayer that is a basic part of our tradition and faith. Living Waters Center provides individual. Family and couples therapy for all life situations. General Needs, an organization based in the Commack/East Northport area, assists needy and homeless veterans. They are seeking volunteers to crochet or knit warm blankets (50" x 60") for a needy veteran. The blankets will be distributed at Christmas, so they must be completed by mid-december.
