Living Stewardship We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who choose God and service to our neighbor over every other responsibility, want or ambition as an act of good stewardship. August 26-Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time: In today s Gospel, Jesus asks Do you also want to leave? We must ask ourselves if we really want to hear the good news of his love for us and for others. Is the word of God able to break into our consciousness, change us and call us to hear the cries of the poor? This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to hear the cries of the poor by families by proving food and money for utility, rent and other bills. God Bless You! In an impassioned letter addressed to the whole People of God, he calls on the Church to be close to victims in solidarity, and to join in acts of prayer and fasting in penance for such "atrocities". With shame and repentance, we acknowledge as an ecclesial community that we were not where we should have been, that we did not act in a timely manner, realizing the magnitude and the gravity of the damage done to so many lives. 9 August 26, St. Francis of Assisi Baby Corner Needs Donations: You are invited to be part of a historic event on Long Island On Saturday, Sept 8th, the people of Brentwood will be processing through their streets to honor Our Blessed Mother Mary on the feast of her birthday, by consecrating their community to her son Jesus. The Blessed Sacrament will be reverently processed, the rosary will be prayed, hymns sung, banners displayed, and the youth will be spreading love along the route through this community badly in need of an infusion of faith, hope and love. Everyone meets at St. Luke s Church (66 Wicks Rd. Brentwood) Holy Mass will be at 10am Gathering for the procession is at 11am. The procession will conclude about 1.5 hours later with Adoration and refreshments at St. Anne s (88 Second Ave. Brentwood) Grassroots Films, the creators of god in the Streets, Outcasts, Fishers of Men and The Human Experience will be filming this special expression of faith to inspire many others long after the event.
