4 December 20, Time, Talent & Treasure Fostering Stewardship as a way of life Thanks for Giving First Fruits & Taking a Step!!! (Regular Sunday Offertory) Last Sunday s weekly offering: $11, Last Year s Sunday offering: $9, Bulletin Reflection The Gospel today tells of the Virgin Mary, pregnant herself, hurrying off to help her cousin Elizabeth. The model of good stewardship, she who had given herself to bear the Savior gave her time and love to others as well. Living Stewardship We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who have the courage, like Mary, to listen to God s voice in their own hears and conscientiously pursue the tasks to which they have been called. December 20-Fourth Sunday of Advent: Jesus was born during the night of the year when darkness is the longest. The Savior of the world comes for the people in dark places. The real, lasting, and deep joy is that the Light shines there. Through your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Light has shown, bringing real, lasting and deep joy to the hearts of the poor who live in dark places in our streets and neighborhood. 6 December 20, Newly Baptized: Avery Rose DiPardo, Aiden Phoenix McIntyre, Nicholas Ryan Triesch 26 th Annual National Night of Prayer for Life 2015 Celebrated ontuesday, Dec. 8 into Wednesday, Dec. 9 (9PM 12/8 through 1AM 12/9) LIFE, GOD S LAW, The FAITH & PEACE This year the NATIONAL NIGHT OF PRAYER FOR LIFE asked for GOD S MERCY! St. Francis parishioners gathered on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8 th, in prayer to re-establish the Culture of Life, restore God s Law, protect The Faith and become a nation worthy of Christ s Peace. Hundreds of parishes throughout the United States joined in this national spiritual endeavor. Disregard for Life and hostility toward the Christian Faith caused many faithful Catholics to recognize the urgent need to seek Our Blessed Mother s intercession. They gathered at St. Francis Church and in many other Churches throughout the country knowing that the only way to restore God s blessings is through the Mother of God. The National Night of Prayer for Life was a unique opportunity to obtain the grace for America s full recovery. Our Lady of Mercy was called upon as our advocate and refuge. The annual National Night of Prayer for Life, which was scheduled from 9:00PM on December 8 to 1:00AM on December 9, invoked the Blessed Mother under the titles of The Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of Mercy. It was on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in 1531, (then celebrated on December 9 th ) that Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas and the Unborn, first appeared to St. Juan Diego. This four hour prayer vigil was designed to unite the Feast of the Immaculate Conception with that of St. Juan Diego, the peasant who brought the message of Guadalupe to the world. It should be noted that the NNOPFL began as an outgrowth of a monthly all-night prayer vigil for life in Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Massapequa Park, NY over 30 years ago. It is now based in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Greenlawn, NY and has been celebrated in all 50 states and beyond. St. Vincent de Paul Society Christmas Again this year we will not be distributing turkeys at Christmas. Please do not bring turkeys to the Rectory. If you would like to donate please bring gift cards from Stop and Shop in $10 and $20 denominations to the Rectory for distribution to the needy. (Our precious babies are always in great need of warm sleepers.)
