3 January 10, Transition We move together as a Parish and with the whole Church to a new season of grace (God s presence and involvement in our lives). The Christmas Season now ends - the secular New Year has arrived and we have a short respite before we plunge into Ash Wednesday and Lent. Take time on these cold days and nights to pray and reflect on God s blessings in the past; pray with confidence that God will be with you in this new season. It was a distinct joy to listen to Phineas Reichert (our former Sacristan) speak about his missionary trip to Jamaica. The parish responded generously and he collected over $3,800 for this worthwhile effort. Please keep him and the other Catholic University students in your prayers. RE-PURPOSE YOUR OLD CHRISTMAS CARDS Please drop them in BOX in CHURCH LOBBY. They will become Giving Tree Gift Tags. First Saturday devotions at St. 11:00am. Living Stewardship We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who answer their baptismal call to believe with joy by placing their gifts and resources, their very selves, at God s service not only in the Church but in the world! A small plaque displaying the name of your loved one or a special intention will be mounted before each candle. Plaques will remain on display for the time subscribed and may be renewed or rededicated for additional six or twelve month periods. The offering for each candle is $60 for 6 months or $100 for 12 months per name, which will support the work and needs of St. Francis Parish. They are seeking volunteers to crochet or knit warm blankets (50" x 60") for a needy veteran. The blankets will be distributed at Christmas, so they must be completed by mid-december.
