3 June 8, Father s Day Novena of Masses This is our own Catholic way to celebrate that glorious role and identity we name Fatherhood. Everyone connects with it; we want to celebrate our fathers, living and deceased, and pass on some treasured memories to another generation. Father s Day may not be the holiday when we spend the most money but we are definitely thinking (and now we trust, praying) for our dads. Envelopes are in the pews. Participate in the Novena of Masses. Fill out the envelope with the appropriate names; make a fitting offering and place the envelope in the basket or receptacle in the vestibule. We will honor our dads (and grand-dads) in a familiar and social way; let s complete the celebration by honoring them spiritually and in a faith-filled way through this Novena. Dad might not have been perfect, but those fond memories speak of his love and hard work on our behalf. Movie Program The films we show are surprisingly good; don t miss out on these Tuesday nights and catch as much as you can of The Gospel of John in the Holy Land with Jean Vanier. Watching these is comforting, uplifting and like an effortless prayer. Why spend another night catching some of the same old, same old, when you can join us and Serenity Cinema - Tuesdays, lower church at 7:30pm. How grateful we must be to God for this wonderful gift that brings such joy to the whole world, women and men alike! Yet we can destroy this gift of motherhood, especially by the evil of abortion, but also by thinking that other things like jobs or positions are more important than loving, than giving oneself to others. No job, no plans, no possessions, no idea of freedom can take the place of love. So anything that destroys God s gift of motherhood destroys His most precious gift to women the ability to love as a woman.
