2 All Saints Roman Catholic Parish Mesa The one-triune God Page 2 THE JOVI-AL JOURNAL T he dogma of faith which forms the object of the feast is this: There is one God and in this one God there are three divine Persons; the Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God. Yet there are not three Gods, but one, eternal, incomprehensible God! The Father is not more God than the Son, neither is the Son more God than the Holy Spirit. The Father is the first divine Person; the Son is the second divine Person, begoen from the nature of the Father from eternity; the Holy Spirit is the third divine Person, proceeding from the Father and the Son. No mortal can fully fathom this sublime truth. But I submit humbly and say: Lord, I believe, help my weak faith. Why is the feast celebrated at this parcular me? It may be interpreted as a finale to all the preceding feasts. All three Persons contributed to and shared in the work of redempon. The Father sent His Son to earth, for God so loved the world as to give His onlybegoen Son. The Father called us to the faith. The Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, became man and died for us. He redeemed us and made us children of God. He ever remains the liturgist par excellence to whom we are united in all sacred funcons. Aer Christ s ascension, however, the Holy Spirit, became our Teacher, our Leader, our Guide, our Consoler. On solemn occasions a thanksgiving Te Deum rises spontaneously from Chrisan hearts. The feast of the Most Holy Trinity may well be regarded as the Church s Te Deum of gratude over all the blessings of the Christmas and Easter seasons; for this mystery is a synthesis of Christmas, Epiphany, Easter, Ascension and Pentecost. This feast, which falls on the first Sunday aer Pentecost, should make us mindful that actually every Sunday is devoted to the honor of the Most Holy Trinity, that every Sunday is sancfied and consecrated to the triune God. Sunday aer Sunday we should recall in a spirit of gratude the gis which the Blessed Trinity is bestowing upon us. The Father created and predesned us; on the first day of the week He began the work of creaon. The Son redeemed us; Sunday is the Day of the Lord, the day of His resurrecon. The Holy Spirit sancfies us, made us His temple; on Sunday the Holy Spirit descended upon the infant Church. Sunday, therefore, is the day of the Most Holy Trinity. PARISH NEWS May 27, 2018 The Most Holy Trinity Dear Lord, on this day, we remember those who have served us by protecng our freedoms. When we celebrate our long weekend with our friends and family, help us remember, that our freedom to speak of you, and our freedom to worship you, and our freedom to do that which we ought to do, have all been bought at the price and sacrifice of many lives. Your Son died for our eternal life in heaven. So, too, your children died protecng us here on earth. Help us be mindful this weekend and always of the sacrifices made by those in uniform for all our freedoms. Amen. RCIA INQUIRY SESSIONS RCIA IS STARTING SEPTEMBER 2018 For those Adults (RCIA), Teens (RCIT) and Children (RCIC) interested in exploring the Catholic faith and interested in completing the Sacraments of Initiation Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion, the first RCIA Inquiry class this summer will be held on Sunday, June 24th at 10:30am in Bishops Hall. RCIA/RCIT/RCIC Formationon Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, Teens & Children ALL SAINTS DIVORCE SUPPORT Do you know anyone who is experiencing pain or loneliness due to a broken marriage? All Saints has a Catholic Divorce Support Group. Interested in healing? Our next twelve-week program begins on June 4, 2018 at 6:30pm in the R.E. Hall.
