2 WORD OF THE LORD THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR FAITH Today is a day simply to ponder the fact that in bap sm we were claimed by God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The first reading from Deuteronomy prompts us to fix in our hearts the truth that God is the Lord of both heaven and earth and there is no other god. Saint Paul reminds us that, because we received the Spirit of adop on in bap sm, we are now children of God. In the Gospel Jesus charges us with the responsibility to make other disciples. These reali es make today s solemnity a day of praise, adora on, and responsibility. It is a fi ng day to thank God for the absolutely free gi of faith that we were given in bap sm. This is an annual volunteer based program where local private and public partners provide free pain ng and cosme c repairs to low-moderate income, elderly, and disabled homeowners within the community. Mrs. Lee s first grade traveled to a farm and spent a morning picking fresh strawberries. Upper school students traveled to the North Carolina Estuarium in Washington, NC where they enjoyed ac vi es led by the Estuarium staff. Our first grade used their ar s c skill to create maps and scenes of countries around the world using both Social Studies and Science. Upper School students made quite an impression with their Wax Museum. Students portraying historical characters created and shared presenta ons to an apprecia ve audience. You may view videos of some of their presenta ons on the school s Facebook page. Our younger students had a lesson from the Coast Guard Auxiliary on water safety and the proper way to wear life preservers. The safety ps they learned are mely reminders as we head into the summer. We also observed Teacher Apprecia on Week to let our teachers and staff know how grateful we are for their hard work and encouragement. Cards, flowers, and a staff luncheon were part of the week. Thursday, May 31 st is Field Day. Please remember to drop off items your child s grade was requested provide if you haven t done so. Also, you are invited to volunteer between the mes of 9AM and 2PM.
