You have given us many talents to share with one another and lead us closer to your will. Help our priests and deacons to hear your voice and to share what they hear with us. Bless the Pastoral Council and Finance Council of Saint Paul Parish and all our staff and volunteers. Bring to the Pastoral Council your gifts of wisdom and understanding as they advise our Pastor. Bring to the Pastoral Council the new members that will aid the Council to hear your voice. We beseech your providential care for us and we trust that You will lead us. We rejoice, Loving God, that you inspire us and bless us; With the intercession of Saint Paul, Apostle to the Nations, hear our prayer. In Jesus' Name! Amen.

2 THE FULLNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT The church wakes up to an amazing message this morning. Look around and see who has been called. Listen to the voices of those who proclaim Jesus is Lord. You'll find no race of people left out; you'll find no language on earth unfit to proclaim the glory of God. We call Pentecost Sunday the "birthday of the church." In many ways, the church is still being born. Only when we all know the peace Jesus offered in today's Gospel will we really know the fullness of the Holy Spirit. St. Paul assures us in today's second reading that "all of us have been given to drink of the one Spirit." When we look around us in the church we should see everyone. But we don't. Not yet. What is holding us back from fully embracing the one Body of Christ? When will we see our differences as manifestations of the same Holy Spirit? TODAY'S READINGS First Reading -- Filled with the Holy Spirit, the apostles begin to speak in tongues (Acts 2:1-11). Psalm -- Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth (Psalm 104). 6 A FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM Bishop Burbidge invites the Faithful to participate in the fifth annual Fortnight for Freedom, a 14-day celebration of our religious freedom. The theme this year is "Witnesses to Freedom." As part of the theme, we will celebrate exemplary witnesses to freedom, including Edith Stein, Oscar Romero, and the Little Sisters of the Poor. Witnesses to Freedom will celebrate the values of our faith with respect to the gift of life, marriage, conscience rights, health care and many humanitarian concerns. As part of our observance of the Fortnight, you are invited to join with Bishop Burbidge for the celebration of Mass on Thursday, June 23 at 6:30 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raleigh. A reception and picnic sponsored by the Knights of Columbus will follow the Mass.
