2 What a Blessing it is to Gather Today!!! The Feast of Pentecost and First Mass Celebration with Pr David Sunday, June 8; 1 Sunday Morning Eucharist at 10:00 am It is with great joy that we gather this morning on this Feast of Pentecost for 1 Festival Eucharist as Pr David is installed as Trinity s Associate Pastor by Bp Gregory and celebrates First Mass with us. Our Anthem Choir, Cantor, & Brass Ensemble have prepared special music for the day, and we re looking forward to their inspiring songs of praise. ~ ~ ~ A reception is planned for friends and families of the parish to gather and celebrate with Pr David and his family and friends and Bp Gregory who will be joining us, following the liturgy. Worship & Music Ministries Sunday Morning Child Care Options for the Convenience of our Families with Children 8:30 am ~ Child Care Room open and available for your use. 10:00 am ~ Staffed by Volunteer Parents throughout Worship. Music Ministries ~ Make A Joyful Noise to the Lord! Parishioners & Friends are invited to share Special Music at Summer Sunday Liturgies... Over the summer months, parishioners and friends are invited to share in worship by providing special music, in place of our cantors and choirs, as an offering to God. Susan Casteel is coordinating the weekly schedule and invites YOU to see her to discuss available dates and options... instrumentals or vocals, solos or groups are all welcome! Children & Youth Ministries In Need of Items for Jungle Safari VBS Please consider loaning any décor that would be appropriate for our Jungle Safari VBS this year (June 16-20). We are looking for anything from blow up palm trees to large "jungle" stuffed animals to pith helmets. 3 Jungle Adventure ~ This Summer s 5-Night Bible School Monday-Friday, June 16-20; 6:00-8:00 pm We re planning 5 great nights of adventure for children of the parish and their friends, along with our youth and adult leaders, to explore and celebrate the wonders of our God our Creator, Provider, Protector, Savior, & King. Each night we ll begin with some fun, high-energy singing and storytelling, and then we ll break into smaller groups as we learn and play, make some great crafts, and grow in Faith! Children of the parish and friends from town ~ preschoolers through elementary grades ~ are all welcome to be a part of this exciting week. Middle-School and Sr High Youth will be working with adults to help lead and guide the nightly events. Please check with Liz Miller, our Children s Ministries Coordinator, ( ) and see how YOU can be a part of this exciting and fun-filled experience. On-line registration can be completed at or you may call the church office for assistance. Youth s Summer Camp Week at Sequanota Sunday-Friday, July 6-11 A nice group of Trinity youth are signed up for a thrilling week at Sequanota! Even though the Early Bird deadline is passed (which would have saved you $20), there is still time to sign up if you would like to be a part of this exciting week with friends from the parish and across the region! We have recently recreated the bulletin boards located right inside the ramp door (near the first floor restrooms). Stop by to take a look at what the Youth and Children are up to Catch up on the events of the past year see who the youth have partnered with through Kiva find information about the upcoming VBS week, and note the fun and excitement that is still to come! Adult & All-Parish Ministries Chicks With Sticks Thursday, June 26; 6:30 pm Knitters and crocheters During our next get together in the Parish House, we will continue work on our prayer shawls and any other new or UFO's (un-finished objects) you have going. 4 Trinity Book Club Tuesday, July 15; 1:30 pm ~ We ll gather in the Parish House Parishioners and friends are invited to be a part of our Trinity Book Club, which meets in the Parish House to discuss books with spiritual themes or devotional or theological significance. Young Adult Social ~ Hosted By Jeremy & Laura Vent Friday, July 18; 6:00 pm Parishioners and friends are invited to a relaxing evening at the home of our evening s hosts, Jeremy & Laura (369 Ridgewood Drive, New Paris). Please check with Jeremy or Laura with any questions, and see Pr David if you need some contacts for potential baby-sitters. In the meanwhile, be sure to save the date and plan to spend the evening with friends of the parish. Neighboring congregations also share in the ministry with us, giving witness to our common Christian devotion to the needs of the hungry. Trinity s next evening to serve will be Tuesday, June 17 (which is the Tuesday evening during the week of Bible School). 5 June s Special Ministry Highlight & Appeal ~ Free Community Dinner Free Community Dinners began in the Fall of 2009 as a charitable ministry to families of the community. Each week, anywhere from people gather in the Social Room and are served a hot dinner. Since its beginning we estimate that we ve served about 19,000 (yesthat s Nineteen-Thousand) FREE dinners! While Trinity is the weekly sight of the dinner, we coordinate the involvement of the Ecumenical Community and presently share in the work with 6 other local congregations. Trinity s Serving Team is regularly coordinated by Betsy Littlefield and continues to involve many parishioners adults, children & youth. Parishioners and friends who volunteer speak very positively of the experience as they have opportunity to respond to Christ s Call to care for, feed, and support our neighbors in need. If you ve not experienced the joy of serving, please see Betsy or sign up the next time the opportunity arises. As you are able during the month of June, please share a gift with the Free Community Dinners. Make checks payable to Trinity, and note Free Community Dinner on the memo line. Special Envelopes have been prepared for this appeal and are with the Sunday Bulletins and in Trinity Hall. Bedford Food Outreach ~ 2 Distribution Dates Each Month Thursday & Friday, June 19 & 20; 10:00 am-noon Distributions are held at The Bedford Food Outreach, 140 School Street, Bedford. Please bring your gifts of non-perishable food items to the Collection Area inside the Penn Street Door in the front Narthex of the Church. THANKS! Other Notes and News Work on The Garden of the Resurrection at Trinity Lutheran Church will soon begin! The Garden of the Resurrection has been designed to be a beautiful place to inter the cremated remains of parishioners and loved ones in the shadow of our Church home. After more than a year of exploring various options, our Ashes-Interment Study Team s proposal to Church Council has been approved, and the work is set to be accomplished in early June (2014). A Power-Point Presentation is available, via Trinity s website, for parishioners and friends to review and see the beautiful plans which have been created. Schendel Memorial Scholarship This Scholarship is awarded by the Executive Committee of our Church Council to celebrate Trinity graduates who demonstrate exemplary participation in the worship, learning, fellowship and servant ministries of the congregation throughout their high-school years. June 22-28, to Crisfield, MD From Pr Tormod Hope everything is well with my friends at Trinity. I am organizing a work trip to Crisfield, MD this summer. We had a group that went there last year as well, and it was a very good experience. I was just checking in to see if there might be anyone from Trinity who might be willing to be part of this. I have signed up for a group to go June There were hundreds of homes on the eastern shore damaged by hurricane Sandy. Crisfield is in a very poor area of Maryland, and many of the folks did not have flood insurance, so most of these homes are being rebuilt using volunteers This is open for everyone over 16 in good health. Please let me know of any interest, and I would be happy to come up and meet with those who are interested. Blessings! Thrivent s Bedford County Chapter Night at the Curve ~ Friday, July 18; 6:00 pm Coordinated by the Chapter s Leadership Board, those attending will have seats at the Picnic Pavilion along the 3 rd base line and enjoy a great meal and lots of fun with family and friends during the game.
