We ve gathered this evening to give thanks and praise to God who has come to live among us, win our salvation, and restore us to the wholeness and the dignity which is ours as His Chosen People! Through his Holy Incarnation, which we celebrate with great joy, we know that we are treasured by the Lord of Heaven and Earth, that his love for us is steadfast and sure, and that, through his humility, he graciously shows us the path to life which is full and enduring. 2 2018 Bedford Community Christmas Church Walk Wednesday, December 26; 6:00 pm The Walk begins at St James Episcopal Church 309 S. Richard Street From St James, we ll then visit St Thomas Roman Catholic Church, The Bedford Presbyterian Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt Pisgah AME Zion Church, St John s U.C.C., and The Bedford United Methodist Church, where we ll conclude with refreshments. At each church, we ll hear a portion of the Christmas Story, sing a familiar carol, and enjoy the decorations and some special music. Many friends choose to bring a flashlight! Sunday, December 30 The First Sunday After Christmas ~ One Morning Liturgy at 10:00 am ~ Installation of 2019 Church Council. Excerpts from the Christmas Cantata, Love Came Down at Christmas. Followed by the All-Parish Holiday Brunch, Served by the Women of Trinity. Faith & Fun ~ Afterschool Ministry w/ Children in Grades K-5 Wednesdays; 3:30-4:30 pm Our next gathering will be Wednesday, January 9 We have a great time as we share stories of the Faith, games, crafts, and snacks with our kids! Enrollment is nearing 50 kids this year! Transportation is provided from the Bedford and Chestnut Ridge Schools. Parents arrive for pick-up, at Trinity, at 4:30 pm. Snack Sponsors ($20/week, please), are always welcome. Please sign up in Trinity Hall. Want to Help with Faith and Fun? We could use a few extra hands! Faith and Fun is bigger than ever ~ and we are having a blast. We ve had to cap enrollment at 50 kids, so that we have adequate adult support. 4 Youth Group Sunday January 13, 2019; 2:00-3:45pm All Youth are invited for an afternoon of faith, fellowship, and fun. We will play some games, enjoy some munchies, chitter chatter, and help some folks around the world through Kiva. It is a good time together as always! Sign up in Trinity Hall. Youth Heading to Pittsburgh Youth Quake February 1-3, 2019 Our Youth are excited to head back to Pittsburgh with several hundred other youth around the theme of transformation. A great speaker will be there, opportunities of learning and service will be provided, and great music will be enjoyed. It is one of the best events of the year! See Pr David with any questions. ~ Adult & All-Parish Ministries ~ Adult Forum ~ Adult Faith Formation Celebrating The Witness of Trinity Sunday Mornings; 9:45 am On Sunday, January 20, 2019, we ll begin a new 6-week series, as we discuss the lengthy, rich and interesting history of Trinity, as detailed in the newly-published 250 th Anniversary History of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bedford. 5 Women of Trinity ~ Bread & Soup Dinner Thursday, January 10; 6:00 pm As we gather this month to celebrate friendship, we ll enjoy a bread and soup dinner, hosted by Linda Vensel (107 Paul Street, Bedford). Adult Nite Out Fellowship ~ Marzoni s Brick Oven & Brewery Tuesday, January 15, 2019; 6:00 pm Mark your calendar and plan to join with friends of the parish for our Winter Adult Nite Out Gathering! We re heading to Marzoni s Brick Oven and Brewery (164 Patchway Road, Duncansville), where we ll enjoy the relaxing environment and enjoyable menu. Please watch for a sign-up. Sr Adult Fellowship Lunch Thursday, February 7; Noon ~ Landmark Restaurant Our Sr Adult Fellowship had a nice time together last month at Homewood s Spring House Café. We re getting together again, the first Thursday of February, at the Landmark. We ll order from the menu. Come and join us, invite a friends, and remember to sign up in Trinity Hall. ~ Outreach Ministries ~ Please Share Generously with Bedford Food Outreach December s Special Ministry Highlight and Appeal Bedford Food Outreach (located at 140 School Street, Bedford, just south of the Bedford Elementary School) provides nutritious food to more than 300 low-income families each month. And, in addition to the monthly distribution, BFO also provides an (almost) weekly distribution of fresh produce to residents of the region. If you would like to learn about how YOU can join the ranks of BFO volunteers, please call Newcomers are always welcome! 6 Thanks for all the support which so many parishioners and friends Free Community Dinner ~ Ecumenical Ministry Trinity hosts and coordinates the Free Community Dinner ministry which has been serving warm and nutritious meals to neighbors of our community every week since September 2009, serving an average of 75 neighbors and friends each week! Trinity s next night to serve is Tuesday, February 12, Thanks for all the support which so many parishioners and friends continue to share with this ministry! 2018 s Children s Winter Clothing Ministry Thank You! Parishioners and friends shared generously of their time and resources and provided countless packages of new winter clothing for 35 local children, as part of November s special ministry appeal. Special offerings, exceeding $2,600, were shared and used to serve our neighbors quite well. THANKS, to shoppers and donors, alike! Meals to Heal Ministry Wednesday, January 9; 4:00 pm Meals to Heal Ministry is an outreach ministry of Trinity which reaches out to share a meal with parishioners and friends following an in-patient hospitalization or facing other challenging times. Thanks, to those who serve on the team: Marlene Claycomb, Leigh Anne Gronborg, Tammi Hess, Janelle Lowe, Mike & Pat Macchiarolo, Guy & Gloria Mellott, and Sara Zywiolek. Please check with any team member, or Pr Short, if you would like to join us in this ministry and attend our planning meeting Trinity Summer Mission Trip July 21-27, 2019; Cost: $450 (Middle School/ High School/ Adults) As Christ calls us to look after our neighbors, just as God has looked after us, we are excited to announce a 2019 Summer Mission Trip! We will be heading approximately 4 hours away into the West Virginia/ Ohio Region to spend the week helping a community in need. Primarily we will be doing light construction, but some time will also be devoted to learning about the community and sharing in some local outreach programs.

Bp Michael will be our guest preacher for the morning and will share in a special Rite for the blessing of our Children and a time of fellowship in Trinity Hall at 9:45 am. Sunday, March 3 ~ 250 th Anniversary Feast of The Transfiguration of our Lord. We ll welcome The Rev. Bill DeHass, former Parish Vicar and Associate Pastor ( ) back to Trinity for the morning as our guest preacher. A special Fellowship Time will be hosted at 9:45 am. Sunday, April 21 ~ 250 th Anniversary Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord. Easter Liturgies and Parish Breakfast & Egg Hunt. Pr Steve Lynn, our parish vicar from 1980, who recently retired as Sr Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, State College, PA, will be our guest preacher for the morning s liturgies. Sunday Afternoon, May 5 ~ God s Holy Church Triumphant, a commissioned Choral & Orchestral Work, composed by Terry Osman, will be performed at Trinity Lutheran Church.

8 Thanks for such a Generous Response to the Altar & Nave Renovation Project The generosity of Trinity s parishioners and friends is to be celebrated! At mid-december, we have exceeded our goal of $198,500 in pledged commitments to the 250 th Anniversary Altar & Nave Renovation Project. This is an amazing milestone, which we ve reached in less than 1 year! Thank you!, to each and every person who, in some way, has been a part of this wonderful accomplishment! $200,930 in special offerings have been pledged (as of 12/24). $142,905 have been shared. $58,025 remains to be received. Can we still donate?... Certainly, and Please Do! Gifts which are received in excess of our goal will be used to save on financing costs by reducing our loan balance more quickly and replenishing the funds ($56,500) which were advanced from the Memorial Fund, securing them for use for some future ministry.
