6 From Jack Charles, Organist and Director of Music Ministry NEW HYMNS Our new hymn book, "Evangelical Lutheran Worship" contains most of the beloved hymns and liturgies from past hymn books. It also contains many new hymns and liturgical settings. If you can't find your favorites from the old books please request them and they will be sung as soon as they are appropriate to the Bible lessons of the day. We try to have only one new hymn on a given Sunday. But occasionally there may be more than one that you do not know. If that happens, simply follow the hymn in the book. By the last stanza you may find yourself humming along or even singing along. Many times over the years people have told me that they didn't think they liked a new hymn at first but that after it was used a few times it became one of their favorites. 7 PRAYER LIST Procedures to request that a name is added to the prayer list are as follows: - Request permission from the individual in need of prayer (as requested by our Synod) - Send an to: Prayers@centenniallutheran.org or Phone: Joanne Cantwell at or Jerene Gladfelter at List the individual s name and BRIEF description of situation (i.e. chemo, dementia, auto accident, comfort and peace, etc.) - Name of requester and association (brother, co-worker, friend, etc.) - Please advise us when a prayer request is no longer valid A new prayer list is issued at the beginning of each month as a bulletin insert. In addition, we have an list of individuals desiring to be on the Prayer Chain to receive these requests. Please update us by the 25th of each month to ensure that your request is listed. If you have not signed up previously and wish to be on the Prayer Chain to receive immediate prayer requests other than those listed monthly, please contact Joanne ( ) or Jerene ( ) with your address or telephone number. 8 ANNOUNCEMENTS Hospitalizations or Pastoral Needs Please notify us if you or a family member is hospitalized and/or in need of a pastoral call or visit. We have no other way of knowing of a hospitalization or a pastoral need. You may contact the church office at or call Pastor Jerry on his cell phone at Attention men! A Men s Breakfast is coming THIS SATURDAY May 13 from 8:30AM until 10:30 AM. Come out and enjoy lots of coffee and a yummy breakfast along with topical discussion between sips and bites. Adult Forum Sunday mornings We ll meet in the fellowship hall following worship to discuss current topics of interest. So grab a cup of coffee and a snack and join us! Care Team ministers to members of our congregation who are homebound. If you are in need of services from the Care Team or know of a member who may need assistance, please contact Care Team leaders Diana Moffett ( ) or Deanna Kalmbach ( ).
