2 If You Are New to Mount Oak If you are new to Mount Oak we want to welcome you to our church and answer a few basic questions you may have. Who Are We? Mount Oak Fellowship is a Bible-believing Christian church that is open to everyone. We are part of the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church but also maintain a distinct, evangelical identity. What Do We Believe? We believe that God is real, that the Bible is true and relevant to us today, and that Jesus Christ is the way that God has given us to know Him in this life. We are also a part of the faith tradition of John Wesley who invited people to come to Christ as they were - in the belief that everyone can come to know God and grow in their faith. What Types of Worship Services Do We Offer? Mount Oak offers an early service that worships using a spiritual but traditional format at 8:45 AM. We offer a later service at 10:30 AM that is contemporary in style. We believe that God is present during both. In addition to this, during the school year we offer a Wednesday evening program for all ages which features a fellowship meal and age based studies. Is There A Place For My Child? Yes, your children are welcome to remain with you during either worship service, or to participate in the following ministries that are offered during the 10:30 service: Nursery for birth to 3 years in room 201 (begins at 10:30) Face of Grace: Pre-K to 7 years, Room 106 (begins after the Children s Sermon) Summit Kids: ages 8-11, Kingdom Kids - Room 107 (begins after the Children s Sermon) How Can I Learn More? You can speak to Pastor Barnes directly, him (pastorbob@mtoak.org), call the church office ( ), or hang around after the service and speak to one of our regular members. If we can t answer your question we will try to find someone who can!

7 Opportunities to Get Involved 100 TH BIRTHDAY PARTY! We will celebrate Margaret Carrick s 100 th birthday on Wednesday, June 6 th, at 7:00 pm. If you haven t gotten your ticket yet, please do so today. USED CURRICULUM SALE The Mount Oak Homeschool Umbrella will host a Used Curriculum Sale on Tuesday, June 5 th, from noon to 2:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. If you or someone you know homeschools, this is a great way to get affordable curriculum. For more information, contact Molly Holloway in the church office. CONFIRMATION Please join in celebration as a number of our youth are baptized and confirmed on Sunday, June 3 rd, at the 10:30 am service. A small reception will follow.. CANDIDATE FORUM Having good people govern our County, State and Federal Government is very important. Preparing for the Primary Election on June 26 th the Bowie Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidates Forum on June 6 th including candidates seeking office in the Maryland Senate and House of Delegates. SAFE SANCTUARY TRAINING All volunteers with children or youth are required to participate in periodic training about our Safe Sanctuary Policy. This includes youth helpers. If you did not go to the training in April, please plan to come to training on Sunday, June 10 th from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. If you have any questions about whether you re required to do this training, please contact Molly Holloway in the church office UPCOMING SERMONS The Message of the Bible is one consistent, unified whole from Genesis to Revelation. We will be completing our journey through the first five books of the Bible by late early After that we will spend over a year in the New Testament. For the next five weeks the messages will be about how God's plan of salvation was revealed in the book of Exodus. In order to meet our budget we need to receive $10,345/week. Last week we received $8,415. Thank you for your faithful giving and remember that just as we serve the Lord together, we meet our expenses together. With this in mind, there will be two Candidates Forums to allow voters in Bowie and Mitchellville to hear where the candidates stand on the issues before the Primary Election on June 26. Bowie Chamber of Commerce Forum Tuesday, June 6 th, 2018, 6:30 pm City of Bowie Kenhill Center This forum will feature candidates seeking to represent Legislative District 23 in the Maryland House of Delegates and Senate Mount Oak Fellowship Forum June 12, 2018, 7:00 pm Fellowship Hall This forum will feature candidates for County Executive, County Council Districts 4 & 5, County Sheriff, and other offices.
