Open our hearts to be transformed by the new thing you are doing, that our lives may proclaim the extravagance of your love given to all through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen.

~ Today s Readings ~ The First Reading: Isaiah 43:16-21 L: A Reading from Isaiah. Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters, who brings out chariot and horse, army and warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick: Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. The wild animals will honor me, the jackals and the ostriches; for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people, the people whom I formed for myself so that they might declare my praise. L: The Word of the Lord C: Thanks be to God. Psalmody: Psalm 126 Please join in singing the congregational refrain: Cantor: When the Lord delivered Zion from bondage, it seemed like a dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, on our lips there were songs. Refrain. Cantor: The heathens themselves said: What marvels the Lord worked for them! What marvels the Lord worked for us! Indeed we were glad. Refrain. Cantor: Deliver us, O Lord from our bondage as streams in dry land. Those who are sowing in tears will sing when they reap. Refrain. Cantor: They go out, they go out, full of tears, carrying seed for the sowing; They come back, they come back, full of song, carrying their sheaves. Refrain. The Second Reading: Philippians 3:4-14 L: A Reading from Philippians. If anyone else has reason to be confident in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, a member of the people of Israel, of the

tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. Yet whatever gains I had, these I have come to regard as loss because of Christ. More than that, I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and I regard them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but one that comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God based on faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, if some how I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. L: The Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. The Gospel Acclamation Please rise and join in singing the Gospel Acclamation s Refrain: Cantor: Even now, says the Lord, return to me with your whole heart; for I am gracious and merciful. Refrain. Holy Gospel: John 12:1-8 D: The Holy Gospel according to St. John the 12 th Chapter C: Glory to you, O Lord. Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him. Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said, "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?" (He said this

not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.) Jesus said, "Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial. You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me." D: The Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to you, O Christ. ~ Today s Prayers & Intercessions ~ We pray for the Church, God s Holy People: that gathered around the Word and Sacraments, we may continue to remember, ponder, and celebrate the New Thing which God has done in the life, death, and resurrection Jesus Christ. Lord, in your mercy We pray for all the Faithful: that the Spirit will sustain us on our Lenten Journey, encourage us through our Lenten Disciplines, and bring us to the fullness of Easter s joy. Lord, in your mercy We pray for those called to lead the Church and shepherd the Flock: that their lives and ministries might show forth the love and faithfulness of the Gospel which they announce. Lord, in your mercy We pray for all who are oppressed and weighed down by sin: that God s gracious promise of deliverance and new life might set them free. Lord, in your mercy We pray for those who are worried and anxious: that the Spirit will help us to trust the goodness of the Lord, and to look, with confidence and hope, for the peace that God will bring. Lord, in your mercy We pray for the poor and the suffering: that, like Mary, we may have the faith to poor out our earthly possessions, to care for and comfort those in need. Lord, in your mercy We pray for the sick, especially xxx, and others dear to us: that the Comforting and Healing work of the Holy Spirit might keep and sustain them, and that the ministries of their family members and caregivers might bring them peace. Lord, in your mercy

We remember those who have died in Faith, especially those whom we have recently laid to rest in the hope of the resurrection: ; that perpetual light might shine upon them, and that those who grieve might be comforted by the Spirit s consolation. Lord, in your mercy We pray, with thankful hearts, for the witness of those who have gone before us, especially St Mary Cleopas, sister of the Blessed Virgin, who attended to our Lord during his crucifixion; St Paul, Apostle of our Lord; and Pr Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Confessor of the Faith; that, like them, we may follow in the Lord s path of umble service and sacrifice for others.
