On the fiftieth day of Easter we celebrate the Holy Spirit as the power of God among us that heals, forgives, inspires, and unites. In the reading from Acts, images of wind and fire describe the Spirit poured out on disciples of all nations. In John s gospel the risen Christ breathes the Spirit on his followers on Easter evening. In the one Spirit we were baptized into one body, and at the Lord s table the Spirit unites us for witness in the world. Church Staff Pastor: Rev. DAVID DEITER has been accepted into the Lutheran Summer Music Academy at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, June 22 July 20, This is four weeks of rigorous musical study and performance, which encourages young people to connect their passion for music with their personal faith. David is completing the 8 th grade at Northampton Middle School where he has been very involved in chorus and band. Recently he received news that he was accepted into the Lehigh Valley School of Performing Arts for his four years of High School. He plays four instruments clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone and piano. At Hope Church, David has been very active in the choirs and orchestra and will affirm his faith in Christ next Sunday at confirmation. Hope Church has presented David with a scholarship for the Summer Academy. However, many expenses remain for the travel and tuition. Personal donations of any amount will help with these expenses. If you can help, please make your checks payable to Hope Lutheran Church and note that they are for the Lutheran Summer Music Academy.
