Cathy Piekarski *PRAYER OF THE DAY Holy God, we try to fix and fasten you, but you will not be stayed. You are love in motion: always breathing us into being, calling us to serve, sustaining us in the wilderness. Come to us as the morning breaks. Soften what has grown dry and brittle in our hearts until we worship with abandon, for we pray in the name of the Son you sent and through the Spirit that gives us life. We trust our own standards; we separate and categorize; we mark the performance of others. We fail to trust your power, hidden in all things. We fail to watch for you, working out your purposes. Gracious God, hidden and manifest, transform our withered imaginations until we yield the judgments we trust to a love we cannot control. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. The First Presbyterian/Valley View Baptist softball team will be playing a double-header at 6PM on Field 2 and 7PM on Field 1 at Buckeye Park. Come out and support the team! KEEPING OUR GARDEN SECOND SUNDAYS AFTER SIP N CHAT - August 13 & September 10. The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to till it and keep it. (Gen 2:15 NRSV) We too have gardens that need keeping. On the second Sundays of the summer, join in work and fellowship as we weed and do other basic grounds upkeep. Marilyn Moody will provide direction. Volunteers will be given a manageable portion of our beautiful grounds to tend for the month. Many hands will make light and quick work. The signup is on the bulletin board at the bottom of the main stairwell. THE 2017 SIP N CHAT CALENDAR HAS BEEN POSTED. PLEASE SIGN UP! We have plenty of open dates. Simple snacks are fine. The next open dates are August 20 and September 10. THE 2017 FLOWER CALENDAR ONLY HAS A FEW OPEN DATES LEFT FOR THE YEAR. You can sign up to purchase flowers for a Sunday. The cost is $15. Please or call the office with the message you would like to appear in the bulletin for that Sunday. The open dates are: August 27, September 10, October 22, 29, November 5, 26, and December 31. THE FOOD PANTRY IS ACCEPTING EGG CARTONS AGAIN.

5 NEW DIRECTORY DESIGN - We would love to have pictures of church events to include on candid pages in the directory. If you have any candids we could use, please them to Sally Norton (sallynh@gmail.com). We have gathered most of the information and pictures needed to print. If you have promised to send a family picture to Sally Norton, please do so soon. Sally will also be in touch with a few more families in July about information that still needs to be verified. Thank you for your assistance! FLOWER MINISTRY: Would you like to bless someone with flowers? If you are going to visit a shut-in or sick person, come by the kitchen during Sip N Chat to pick up a vase of worship flowers. The deacons and some of their helpers will make sure the worship flowers get divided into smaller vases, but we want to let the whole congregation be involved in distributing the flowers. The person getting the flowers doesn t necessarily have to be a church member. SUMMER OFFICE HOURS: Monday Thursday 7:30-4:00 and Friday 7:30-Noon. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
