These words, Given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins, show us that in the Sacrament forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation are given us through these words. 3 Mid-week Advent services are on Wednesdays at 11:15am and 6:30pm. There will be a meal at Noon and 5:30pm. The noon meal will be a different soup each week with homemade bread and desserts. The Bds. Of Elders and Day School will serve a meal of spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and dessert at the 5:30pm meal on the 5 th. National Youth Gathering/144 Envelopes: Thousands of youth, including Concordia's, will be gathering in Minneapolis in July of Please help send our youth group by visiting the banner hanging in the narthex. Pick a numbered envelope and placing the corresponding dollar amount (cash or check made payable to Concordia Lutheran Church) in it. Your envelope may be turned in to Kate Cullen at the school office or Chris Henze, Youth Minister. The Corner Table Serving Dates: Souper Stars December 5 th ; Sonshiners December 13 th This year we are blending the Children's Ministry Christmas program with the 4:30 pm Christmas Eve Family Live Nativity service. Preschoolers - Jr. High are invited to be part of this service. We need, leaders, ushers and greeters, scripture and prayer readers, angels, shepherds and kings Contact Vicar Alex or Belinda Bost for more information. Encourage your child to be part of telling the nativity story. Family Ministry Activity: Field Trip to serve at Operation Christmas Child Processing Center in Charlotte, NC on December 11 th. Meet at 7am in the horseshoe to ride the mini-bus to the Charlotte Processing Center. We will serve from 9am to 1pm. We will stop for lunch on the way back to Concordia and should return around 4pm. New Service Announcement: The Longest Night Service will be held on Friday, December 21 st at 6:30pm. Sometimes it's hard to experience the joy of Christmas, as we sing, "Joy to the World, the Lord is come." When we have suffered losses, sadness and grief, it takes the "Merry" out of "Merry Christmas." In this service of readings, prayers and songs, we will offer it all to the Christ child. He was born to bear our infirmities and carry our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4). PARENTS NIGHT OUT Saturday, December 8! Concordia s Youth Group will be hosting Parents Night Out on Saturday from 5:00-11:00 pm at Concordia s Youth Central. Make plans for an evening out of shopping, dining, attending a Christmas party... meanwhile your children will be having loads of fun playing games, making crafts, running relays, watching movies, etc. There will be something for everyone! Permission forms are available in the school office or Kate Cullen at Kcullen@concordianc.org to have one ed to you. Children age $10 per hour plus $5 for each additional child in the same family. This is a fundraiser for Concordia s Youth going to the National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, Minnesota, July Thank you for your support.

Thank you for considering a Christmas gift for this mission work. Kids In Worship!!! Advent! In Advent we get ready for Jesus to come. Look at the Advent wreath. It is green and a sign of new life, even in the dark of winter. The circle shape of the wreath reminds us that God s love is never ending. He comes to be with us forever. Today we light the first candle on the Advent wreath. The HOPE candle. Some call it the Prophet s candle. Prophets like Isaiah shared God s message. God told the people to get ready for the promised Savior; a light to shine in the darkest world. Prepare, the prophets said, the light of God is coming. Take an Advent coloring card from the welcome stations to color at home with your family. Share with your neighbor to help them get ready for Christmas. Free Gift Wrapping TODAY, December 2nd: Our National Youth Gathering Youth will wrap your presents for free after all 3 worship services today! December 2, 2018 Youth Ministry Highlights Youth Ministry Christmas Caroling & Dinner: Our youth ministry is going Christmas Caroling, TODAY! Meet at Youth Central at 3:00pm. We will sing Christmas Carols and give hugs to our homebound members. After Caroling we will return to Youth Central for our Christmas Covered Dish Dinner. Bring 1 meat dish & 1 side dish to share. We will be taking 2 church buses! The congregation is invited to go & share in this Christmas joy! Join us this Wednesday (12/5) for Advent dinner and worship. Parents Night Out is this Saturday, December 8th: Parents bring your children to Youth Central from 5-11pm for movies, games, activities and food while you enjoy some time away. Price is $10 per hour plus $5 for each additional child in the same family. Children age Sign the permission forms. Sr. Youth - Christmas Family Project is next Sunday! Our Sr. Youth are assisting a needy family this year for Christmas. We will meet on Sunday, December 9 th from 12:00-3:00pm in Youth Central. The suggested donation is $10.00 per person for the family s gifts. We will eat lunch, shop, wrap and deliver the presents on this same day. Come be a part of this wonderful Servant Event! The 144 Envelopes Banner is an interesting way for you to help us attend the 2019 National Youth Gathering. Check it out in the church s narthex! Jr. Youth Thanksgiving Family Thanks to those Jr. Youth (& adults) who participated, donated, planned, shopped and delivered the Thanksgiving Family meal (and large food shopping list) to the needy family this year. Thanks for sharing the love of Jesus Christ! Thanks to Village Motors for providing coffee and doughnuts on Black Friday for our National Youth Gathering troupe to hand out as free gifts! Thanks for blessing! Thanks to our parents for encouraging your child to be faithfully involved in our acolyte ministry. Thanks for bringing them to serve in worship! What a blessing it is to have so many different youth leaders with different leadership styles and personalities! This way Concordia s diverse group of teenagers can hopefully relate to one (and more) of our caring adult youth sponsors! DCE Chris L. 6 Prime Timers will host the Advent Meal on Wednesday, December 12 th at 12: 00 PM after the 11:15 Advent Service. Please bring extra food for our Guests. We will have a business meeting after the meal so bring your event list that you received at our last meeting with your suggestions for events for our meetings and also for extra events. We will be making the schedule for the year 2019 in January. Thanks to Dave Beringer for the Ghana presentation at our last meeting. As we learned, their church services last three hours. An hour and fifteen-minute service doesn't seem very long now. Thanks again Dave.
