Being blessed is being full of joy on the inside. It is more than being happy. God promises that we will be blessed if we follow His teachings, but it will not be easy. He wants us to know that the kingdom of heaven is waiting for us if we can get through the tough times in this life. God calls us to be different than the rest of the world. Jesus did not give the beatitudes and then want us to fail. He wanted to give us something to aim for, to work on every day to achieve. One way we can be successful in trying our best to have a life full of blessings is to learn God s words. Memorize scripture. The scriptures give us a foundation of hope and love and the assurance of the great treasures we will have in heaven. Kids at FI.S.H. put together ABC Scripture Cards for their scripture memory work. If you would like a set for your child let me know. Letter (L) Let us love one another for love comes from God. 1 John 4:7 Contact Belinda Bost, Children s Minister at bbost@concordianc.org or with questions or concerns. Be sure and get your Worship Bulletin from the Welcome Stations and work on the activities during the sermon.
5 F. I. S. H. - January 9 February 27 Families, Individuals Study Hour (FISH). This is a great time for everyone to come to the church for a light supper followed by various classes you can choose to attend. Here s what s currently scheduled: 5:30pm A light supper, food, fellowship and fun for all ages. Thanks to the many volunteers who cook, serve, and clean up. 6:00 7:00pm Choose from among these offerings: Children, Kindergarten 4 th graders, F.I.S.H. for Kids! Children will enjoy a VBS type hour with a lesson, an activity and a different craft each week. Youth 5 th 12 th grade SOS and Confirmation in Youth Central. Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up led by Vicar Alex. Do you know who Jesus is? Are you sure? Today, there are many false portraits of Jesus on display. In this video study, Rev. Matthew Richard walks through his book, Will The Real Jesus Please Stand Up? He dissects 12 false Christs we often encounter these days. Join us as we examine each Jesus and learn to know the real Jesus more deeply. "Titus: Instructions for Pastors and Churches" led by Pastor Nelson. This class looks at St. Paul's instructions for church leaders in a new congregation in Crete, and how these are still important for Concordia these days, as we anticipate the arrival of a new pastor in the next 6 months or so. Sharing/Teaching the Faith led by Katrina Garrison. This class for parents with small children will concentrate on developing faith in our children, with special emphasis on preschool through elementary age children. Katrina is a helpful resource for conversations on beginning Faith Walk steps, including what happens after baptism, devotional time at home, choosing a Bible for your child, and other helps for faith in the family growth. 7 8 pm These are the options for this second hour: Youth 5 th 12 th grade SOS and Confirmation in Youth Central. Principal David Beringer leads a discussion entitled The Great Deceiver. It should come as no surprise that an adversary fit to be called the god of this world and the power of darkness is a force to be reckoned with. And so he is. In The Great Deceiver, explore a being so diabolical, he will stop at nothing to separate us from God. Preparing for Worship led by Pastor Paul, gives a look at each Sunday s lessons (Old Testament, Psalm, Epistle, Gospel) to get a head start for Sunday worship.
6 Prime Timers met last Monday in the Emmaus Room for their February Meeting. Vicar Alex, Ashlie and little Alexander were our guests.
