We are glad to have you with us today and pray our service is a blessing to you. It is our sincere hope that you will come to worship with us again. THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER (MISERICORDIAS DOMINI) Ezekiel 34: Peter 2:21 25 John 10:11 16 The name of this Sunday is The Mercies of the Lord The Good Shepherd Cares for His Sheep Our Lord Jesus is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11 16). He is not like the hireling, who cares nothing for the sheep and only for himself, who flees when he sees the wolf coming. Rather, Jesus is the Good Shepherd who seeks out His scattered sheep to deliver them (Ezek. 34:11 16). He gathers them and feeds them in rich pasture. He binds up the broken and strengthens the sick. He lays down His life for wandering and wayward sheep. On the cross, Christ bore in His body the attacks of the predators of sin and death and the devil for you that you might be saved. He now lives to restore your soul in the still waters of baptism, to lead you in the paths of righteousness by the voice of His Gospel, to prepare the table of His holy supper before you, that you may dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23). For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls (1 Peter 2:25). Page 1

3 Mission Corner Krista Young serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a career missionary in Ethiopia, based out of Addis Ababa. Krista is a volunteer coordinator, working with local leaders to identify and open opportunities for short-term volunteers and teams to support the work of the church. She coordinates these visits and makes the needed arrangements to help them be successful. Together, Krista and Joel host people coming into Ethiopia and help connect them to the resources they need. Through these interactions, they share the love of Jesus with these individuals new to this country. They also are active in local congregations. Pray for Krista and Joel as they serve in Ethiopia. Pray God gives the entire Young family strength and peace as they transition to life overseas, learning the culture and the language. Pray for their safety as they travel to build their support network. MEN S BIBLE BREAKFAST meets this Sat., May 6 th at 8:00 am at Maxfield s Restaurant on Rt. 34 for food, fellowship & study. Come! Join us as we study The Gospel of Mark. 5 Local News & Events MEN S AND WOMEN S underwear and clothing may be placed in the boxes provided at the doors of the church to benefit the detox program at Breaking Free, a local drug and alcohol abuse counseling center. TRIVIA FUN for EVERYONE is an enjoyable and inclusive way to support Voice of Care. It's today from 2 to 5 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church Green Trails, 2701 Maple Ave, in Lisle. Come as an individual, family or group to play trivia. The event includes a silent auction, carnival games, and pizza.
