3 OUR MISSION STATEMENT Sacred Heart Parish is a welcoming Catholic community, which inspires faith in God, through prayer, sacraments and service, while living Gospel values, as faithfull followers of Jesus Christ. October is the Month of the Rosary. Before the 15 th Century there were over 100 Mysteries ascribed to this meditative prayer. Then, the traditional Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries became the standard meditations for the faithful contemplated the life of our Savior. In 2002, Pope John Paul II added the five Luminous Mysteries which reflect upon the three years of Jesus ministry and the revelation of his divinity to those who would hear and believe. In this month of October, let our families claim our Catholic identity as we take up the rosary beads to recite the prayers and recall Christ s redemptive work in the world and in our own lives. 4 Pastoral Care & Social Concerns FATIMA ROSARY RALLY 12 Noon, Saturday, October 13th 2018 The annual Fatima Rally in memory of the miracle that took place on October 13,1917 in Fatima. Gently used items are sold at St. Vinnie s thrift stores. Proceeds from the thrift store sales help fund programs to help families all over King County. We need gently used men s jeans, shirts and shoes, women s business clothing, and small household items. We also need all kids clothing, winter coats, boots, gloves and sweaters. About 90 cents of every $1 donated goes to programs to help people. MASS WITH ANOINTING OF THE SICK The next Mass with anointing of the sick will be Thursday, October 11th at the 9am Mass. All those who are of advanced age, preparing for surgery or seriously ill, may receive the Sacrament. CRS Parish Ambassador Corps. Are you looking to increase Global Solidarity in your parish? Become a CRS Parish Ambassador Corps Parish! PAC is a corps of local Catholic volunteers who are passionate about global solidarity and want to take action. CRS Ambassadors receive formation on the spiritual roots of our call to care for those in need. Ambassadors are part of a nationwide CRS Ambassador community, sharing encouragement, prayer and resources. Trained and equipped, Ambassadors commit to helping support global solidarity efforts in their parishes. They help with Rice Bowl as well as two other initiatives over the course of the year. 5 Youth Ministry Sacred Heart Youth Group will be starting its movie and game night series starting in November: Middle School Nights: Wed November 7th and Wed December 5th at 6:00 pm High School Nights: Sun November 4th and Sun December 2nd at 6:30 pm All events will be in the Youth Room! If you are interested in learning more about how to get involved, or ask question as an adult, come to our information meetings this October: Wed the 17th at 6:30 pm and Sun the 21st at 1 pm are our Parent info meetings. Thursday the 18th at 6:30 pm and Sunday the 21st at 2 pm are our Core Team info meetings! All meetings will be in the Parish Hall! CYO 4 th - 8 th GRADE BASKETBALL All students in grades 4-8 at Sacred Heart School or Parish are welcome to join us for the basketball season. No experience required, only the desire to learn and have fun!
