2 LOVE CHRIST.LOVE OTHERS.SERVE Love Christ, Love Others, and Serve. If you haven t noticed, IT S WORKING! What a TREMENDOUS spirit is happening at CCCC. Over the past month we have witnessed above and beyond service and the love of Christ abounds. First, we talked last summer about giving our auditorium a face lift. Honestly, it had been on the back burner for quite some time as we addressed some more important things and made it through the holiday calendar. So after the first of the year, we mentioned in a board meeting the possibility of getting something done before Resurrection Sunday, and OH MY, did the people of CCCC with a servants heart show up. We had most of the auditorium DONE in one evening. I couldn t possibly start to name all of the help because there were so many there: painting, trimming, cleaning, etc. THANK YOU! From the Senior Minister If you have never seen a 40 foot ladder reaching the ceiling to finish cutting in the paint on the high walls of our auditorium, you can t really appreciate what those who volunteered to climb that ladder really accomplished. THANK YOU to those guys. Just MOVING those ladders was a task (especially the 40 foot ladder when it was leaning right towards the stained glass window I m really glad that job is over.) But the walls are painted, the new projection screens are up and mounted, and the stage has a new look that should address some of our acoustic concerns. We still have some treatments for the back wall, but those shouldn t take too long to hang up. Secondly, Resurrection Sunday. Didn t our choir do an outstanding job?! Breakfast was once again FABULOUS! Thank you to all those who made that happen. I look forward to the fellowship at our Resurrection Breakfast every year. What a treat! Now, behind the scenes, what you might not know: Mike Seay put together the Best of the Best Resurrection anthems for the choir to sing. Tragically, Mike s father, Earnest Papa Snake Seay, passed away in the middle of the last week leading up to Resurrection weekend. While Mike was with his father and family before he passed away Thursday morning, many others from our CCCC family were praying for Mike. In addition to offering up prayers, our entire choir and tech crew stepped up in ways many may never know to make our Resurrection Story happen without our fearless leader Mike Seay. We love you Mike, and we wouldn t have wanted you any other place than with your father and family. But what a tremendous fabulous awesome job everyone did to honor our Lord and Savior this past weekend. What an encouragement. Thank You All! In His Service, Allen G. 3 The Spring Time Blues Elder Notes! May 2014 Communication From the Leadership To love is to risk losing. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure. But risk must be taken - because the greatest hazard in my life is to risk nothing. * Allen Gonzalez mentioned in his message that there is a normal letdown after Easter. Easter is the most important weekend in the Christian realm. It not only celebrates the birth, life, and death of our Savior, but, most importantly, the resurrection! We build with anticipation as we study the life of Jesus, go through Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and then Sunday morning! Then, we go back to what we know. Our routine. For the disciples, it was fishing. But, the one story we have about that, they stunk at it. They fished all night long only to have an unidentified man tell them to cast their nets on the other side of the boat. Ten feet away, but more importantly, 180 degrees. Back toward the risen Savior. Let s not forget to keep our hearts abiding (dwelling) in the vine after Easter. Only in keeping our sights set on Jesus will we move forward at Capital City Christian Church! We have some important decisions in the next few months. These are the things to keep in prayer: 1) The Family Minister search team has received and reviewed the applications. They have already had their first meeting and will be interviewing candidates and making a recommendation to the church very soon. We need the right person for this position. Only one problem--what I have in mind as the right person is probably different than what you think. There is only one opinion that I care about. That is-what would Jesus want for our church? We need to keep this person, whoever it is, in our prayers. We need to keep the search team in our prayers. We need to follow God s will only! 2) Summer Splash (VBS) is coming up in July! We will be building for this event with Christian movies, open to the public and on the back deck with free popcorn and drinks, for the four Fridays prior to VBS starting. We need the public to feel comfortable coming to our church. We will need workers for the Friday night events who will be friendly and inviting to the families who will attend. We will need smiling, happy workers to make Summer Splash a success. Yes, this is a time commitment, but, the purpose is to reach the people of Tallahassee for Jesus. Is it worth it? 3) Transitioning our church from the survivor to the mending to the visionary mode. We can t get the blues now that we have made it past several high and low points in the last year. We must prayerfully consider what each one of us with our talents can add to the future of this church. Let s risk showing our love for others! To risk nothing is the greatest risk of all. Is Jesus that person who completely turned your life around? If He is--it s risky--but share his love! Pray that we would be able to minister to many children and families and God would give us growth as we put forth His Word and share His Love.
