3 April 20, 2014 Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Hainesport, New Jersey Page Christ is Risen! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Easter, the holiest day of the Christian year is here! After Holy Week we are able to come closer and closer to the heart of the resurrection news. Death of all things is no longer the ultimate reality. Christ s love for us did not end with his death. Jesus has been raised from the dead and the story continues in our lives by showing us an empty tomb. The empty tomb in this weekend s Gospel from John is presented to us so that we can see the Glory and Mystery of Christ. His rising from the dead is one mystery that cannot be assessed from the outside we can only know and see its reality and power if we dare to step inside the tomb and make Jesus' resurrection our own. The door of the tomb was opened not to let Jesus out of our hearts but to let us in, to allow us to see and believe that His promise is true and that he has indeed risen. He had conquered death once and for all and gave us hope and the promise of eternal life. My dear parishioners, Easter brings us to that amazing reality the reality that Jesus has indeed risen from death. If He had not risen from the dead, if He had merely died and not been resurrected, all our hope for humanity would have been lost. However, His resurrection changed all that and gave a final proof that He was indeed the Son of God. Yes, the event of the resurrection belongs to the history of mankind, which is an integral part of our Christian living. Christ has been raised, and we too have been raised. We are invited to make it more real every day of our lives. We can do this by: feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, helping the needy and more... My dear friends. this is how we are supposed to live and continue in our own way. The Greatest Story Ever Told is the story of the resurrection of Jesus the Christ. This is what the Easter story is all about. This is what it means to be called Easter People People who are not afraid to help the needy People who are not afraid to carry the light of Christ into this world People who are not afraid to enter the empty tomb and proclaim that Jesus has indeed risen Let us not forget all these as we move on with our lives. Happy Easter to one and all!!! Fr. Joe
4 April 20, 2014 Easter of the Resurrection of the Lord Page Easter of the Resurrection of the Lord Christ is Risen! Our response to this great Good News: thankful praise! Give them courage, hope and strength. May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate healing. Be their power and protector, leading them from darkness to light. To you be all glory, honor and praise, now and forever. Amen. CATHOLIC HOME MISSION APPEAL The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place next week. One way that this Appeal works to support mission dioceses here at home is by supporting seminarian formation in poor dioceses. The blessing of seminarians places a financial burden on these dioceses, which educate each seminarian at a cost of $35,000 - $40,000 per year. Your support is needed for these young men, so that they can return to serve their parishes. Please strengthen the Church at home by making a generous gift to next week s Appeal. EASTER BASKET PROJECT THANK YOU On April 5th and 6th the seventh grade CCD students and parish volunteers worked together to create 335 Easter baskets. Their efforts, combined with the 327 baskets donated by RVHS, Burlington Township Middle School, Lockheed Martin and our parishioners, resulted in 765 happy children who were sponsored by Catholic, Christian or medical service agencies. Again, thank you for your generous support. IN MEMORIAM Please remember in your prayers a member of our parish family who died: Doris Steen Also Deceased members of our Parish and those who died in the Service of our Country. May they enjoy peace in their new life with Christ Jesus.
